Aesthetic patients are evaluated to determine their concerns and possible solutions for these concerns. A medical history that includes allergies, current medications, current supplements/vitamins, and life style help us help you. Most people are good candidates for neurotoxin injections ( Botox, Dysport ) or facial fillers but not everyone. If you have a neurologic disease such as Multiple Sclerosis or ALS, it is advisable to have clearance from your neurologist before getting Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin. By looking at your face together and seeing what you would like to improve, we are more likely to be able to help you. We assess the areas causing you discontent, and determine if this is something caused by muscle contraction, volume loss, thinning skin, loss of elasticity, dehydration, or gravity. By understanding the cause of the issue, we can better recommend a solution that may include a neurotoxin, a filler, microneedling, skin creams, better nutrition, or more aggressive procedures that we don’t even offer. If you are tired of looking at facial lines that make you look older than you feel, consider neurotoxins ( Dysport, Botox, Xeomin ) to improve the way you look. While high quality skin creams have a role in skin health, they need frequent application, and by themselves, don’t improve the lines from over active muscles as well as Dysport, Botox, or Xeomin.
Lip Augmentation
There are now several injectable fillers available to replace lost facial volume without aggressive surgery. Hyaluronic Acid products such as Restylane, Juvederm, and Belotero are the most versatile as they can be injected in most tissues with predictable results. Depending on the treatment area and each person’s metabolism, the treatment effect can last from 4 to more than 12 months. Hyaluronic acid attracts water and helps hydrate the tissue while replacing lost volume. This makes lip augmentation especially attractive in cold, dry climates where chapped lips are commonplace. They also have a unique property that allows the product to be dissolved with an enzyme (hyaluronidase) in the very rare instance of an undesired outcome. Serious side effects from these fillers are rare, but common side effects include temporary swelling, bruising and pain. You may also not be a good filler candidate if you form keloids (hypertrophied scars) or are prone to infections. To minimize injection discomfort, we have fillers with lidocaine available, use a very small injection needle, and apply cold packs during the procedure.
Facial Implants
Facial fillers are mostly liquid implants used to replace tissue lost from beneath the skin. As we age our tissues lose fat, bone, moisture, and elastic fibers that help us look youthful and attractive. Prior to the discovery of compatible facial implants, surgery was the only option.

Acne Treatment

In our office, we use an electronic device for microneedling that has many advantages over home derma pen rollers and nonmedical derma pen devices. Our highly trained staff can customize each patient’s treatment for optimum results including specific areas treated on the face, neck and decolletage. Microneedling punctures the skin at 600 revolutions per minute maximizing collagen growth for smoother skin. The depth of needle penetration is adjustable based on patient tolerance, and the needle produces a clean puncture into the dermis leaving normal tissue between punctures. Generally the deeper the needle penetration, the better the results of the treatment. Ideally, four initial treatments are suggested 4 to 6 weeks apart. While skin improvement begins to be seen after the first treatment, maximal results are most noted 4 to 6 months after the last treatment. Skin benefits usually last 18-24 months, and we are finding that most patients are sustaining their radiant skin results with a retreatment once a year. Compare our microneedle treatment which in many ways is similar to the way a fraxel laser works, but at a fraction of the cost. Coupled with sensible skin care, antiaging creams, and other aesthetic procedures at Silver Lake Wellness, looking your best is not only achievable, but more affordable than surgery or high priced lasers.
