General Info: Located in Newark, N.J., Morton Street Middle School serves student in grades six through eight and offers a wide variety of academic and extracurricular activities. Established in 1851, the middle school is operated by Newark Public Schools. The middle school s academic curriculum includes social studies, science, mathematics, language arts, music, world languages, art, and physical and health education. It has a school leadership council, a school-based body that is responsible for advising the school administration on essential instructional, budgeting and personnel issues. The middle school also provides a variety of clubs and student organizations, such as Spanish, debate and drama clubs, chorus and student council. Additionally, it offers an after school youth development programs and athletic activities, such as basketball and cheerleading.
