Always enjoy the National team in Newark, car selection is great and always clean. this trip I left my phone in my car and was on the way back to airport when I realized it and one of the guys there had it waiting for me to come back. He pulled it out and said "Is this your's" with a big grin and before I even got close enough to talk to him. Nice people and will be back.

Standard rental at National. Reserved on line, choice on Executive Selection, clean, full of gas and ready to go. Return very quick, just get out and go to terminal. Bill emailed before you get on your flight. Never any negative surprises. Will continue to rent as long as I can drive.

Great service! Quick in and out form the airports, reasonable price and great car selection. However I will say that Boston Logan Intl Airport did provide a much better service than Newark, the price was more reasonable and the staff much more attentive. I was also disappointed that when I returned the car that I rented from Newark airport and I found out that I was being charged per mile driven which is something I had never had to deal with when using National previously.

I haven't had a good experience when renting from this location. Last week I picked up a Altima that was making all sounds of noise when hitting the breaks. The interior was poorly kept, clearly it wasn't washed and cleaned. The prior week I had to wait for 15 minutes to get my receipt when I returned the vehicle. The customer service agents didn't care that business travelers such as me have flights to catch. The selection of cars at this location isn't that great. I wouldn't recommend this to any of the business travelers.

Limited selection of vehicles when choosing. Rented a 2015 Ford Focus with high mileage, transmission problems. When I stopped to pump gas the vehicle auto locked the doors, requiring AAA to come out and slim jim the door. Not a good rental vehicle at all- definetly not please with my rental experience.

I'm an Executive Club member and recently rented from EWR airport. I had no issues with staff, with the car, or with personnel. Any time I rent from any vendor (not just National), I take the time to do a walk around and take pictures of the car on my phone, particularly if there are scratches, etc. While EWR is on of my least favorite airports to use, I have not yet had any problems with renting from National.

As an Emerald Club member, I'm told to pick a car out of the row of cars (just not the Executive row), which is fine with me. When I took one of the cars to the check out booth, I was told that I should have picked a "compact" car because that's the policy for my corporate account. How would I know which car out of that row is considered a "compact" if it is not marked as such? If there is yet another row that is just for Compact cars, I would be happy to go to that row.

Getting car as a executive member was fast and easy. During my 21 days rental period I had a problem with the car tire (the TPMS light was on. I checked 2 consecutive days and the tire pressure was all good) I was asked to take it near by National place and I did the same, on arrival I was told they don't have any car to give it to me like are you kidding me! I drove 40 minutes to get here. Finally after 60 minutes of back and forth they did something to car and told me that now the car is all good. National has really bad service when it comes to any problem with your rental car.

I will never use National again!! I have used Hertz for years with no issues, but my company is trying to save money so they switched to National and on my 1st rental they are putting in a damage claim for a lousy 1 1/2 inch pop out dent that I am 100% sure I didn't do, but since I didn't use a magnifying glass to check the car, I can't prove it. It's very sad that they would rather lose my business than overlook a stupid little dent...

I made a reservation for a mini van. Went to the location and they gave me a suburban.

The counter person gave me the key of the car and said "the car is on the back".

It was 4:30 in the morning. The car was black and it was extremely dark outside where she parked the car behind the counter place.

At the time of the return the inspector told me there was a scratch on the back driver door and dents on top of the car.

I explained to him that I "DID NOT" caused any of it. And told him that at the time I picked up the car it was dark/pitch black and there was no way for me to see "ANY" scratch on the car. And I would need a ladder in order to see the top of the car. I was not able to see the top of the car.

NOW they are charging me over $3,000

They do not care and keep saying it's my fault.

I rent a car every week with another company for work. This is the first and LAST time I use National.
