Wonderful place with wonderful doctor Emil Chyn. Everything done fast and with perfect treatment me as a person!

I know that Emil made a lot for Ukrainians at the beginning of war and alot right now.. I'm highly recomended this place to anyone who have eye problems or anything else as well as help for Ukrainians.

Let's list some thing i know he is done for Ukrainians: donated the 1st CXL machine to treat KC to Lviv 10 years ago, had 2 Ukrainian eye doctors working for he's clinic on park Avenue for a combined 8 years, then during the war brought medical aid physically into ukraine twice, & sponsored U4U visas for 4 people to get them out of Ukraine & gave them jobs in nyc - that's only a part of what i know.. !

I am so glad I found out about Park Avenue Lasik! Everyone is so friendly and very honest with the procedure the price and the process. I just had my Lasek surgery last July 9.2021 and it is one of the best day of my life! I have a prescription of -13.25 (300 astigmatism) for my left eye and -9.50 (275 astigmatism) on my right eye. and I just had my post op today (July 15) and my vision is now 20/40 and the doctor said it will progress as months pass by. I have been wearing eyeglasses/contact lenses since I was 5 and now It’s so sureal it’s not yet even sinking in! I hope everyone knows about Epi-Lasek, I am in awe why this procedure is still not popular!

I had a great experience with Dr. Chynn at Park Avenue Lasek although I understand other people's reviews. Some people might be turned off by Dr. Chynn's personality and how he interacts with staff, but the guy is clearly brilliant as evidenced by his impressive resume (Dartmouth, Harvard, Columbia, Emory, NYU). He is a bit of a perfectionist and is always on his staff 24/7 correcting any mistakes they might make to ensure that you have a perfect visual outcome.

For Dr. Chynn optimal outcomes are the most important thing, which is how it should be. For example, he came up with the ingenious idea of creating an SMS or WhatsApp group for all patients, where his entire staff and himself are in the group with the patient and any caregivers. That way, if you have any questions in your postop recovery period all you have to do is text the group, get the answer from his staff, and he can monitor the answers and add more detail if necessary (as happened with me). It’s much easier to communicate via text in this day and age than have to constantly call the doctor’s office. As a healthcare professional I recognize and appreciate the many protocols and systems that Dr. Chynn has spent extraordinary time putting into place to ensure optimal outcomes.

I chose Park Ave Lasek based on recommendations from coworkers and friends who had gotten Lasek done through Dr. Chynn and they had nothing but good things to say. Note that the vast majority of negative reviews are from people who never proceeded with the surgery, which is like putting up a negative restaurant review when you didn't like the greeter so never bothered to dine there and sample the food. Ultimately what matters is the long term health of your eyes (you only have two after all and seeing is kind of important) both in regards to vision and lack of side effects. Towards that goal you want the most competent and experienced doctor you can find and Dr. Chynn fits the bill.

It has been 4 years almost since I had my LASEK surgery, performed by Dr. Chynn. What can I say ? -DREAMS COME TRUE IF YOU BELIVE AND MEET RIGHT PEOPLE. Doctor Chynn literally changed the way I think of this world, my attitude towards medicine and brought light to my life. I started loosing my vision at the age of 5, drastically dropping down each year , I went through years of hospitals and cruelty from kids who were making fun of me wearing super thick glasses. As you know you can not get contact lenses when you are a child. I had two surgeries when was 12, and two more at the age of 16. No results of improving of eye sight were witnessing. I lost my hope and finally when got courage to check how bad it was I was informed my doctor that I was -15 (astigmatism , myopia and loose eye). I spent days crying: all that I could think of was just being blind and not making this life at all. A CHANGING LIFE EXPERIENCE ! after bumping into "weird" doctors in Manhattan, NYC who were absolutely positive that my eyes could not be ideal ever and were offering to install eye - implants and then correct with laser , I was looking at spending 10k and there was no 100% guarantee of success . Really ??? Fortunately enough, I was denied by bank to get a loan and absolutely accidentally coming after work saw a sign Park Avenue LASEK. I gave it a try. Vu A La.. I am 20/20 NOW... what is this: miracle? some kinda of God's help or just simply high level of professionalism. Who are you , Dr. Chynn? It might sound too spiritually .. but anyone who feels the pain I went through will understand me. You are in my prayers every time I express my gratitude. I wish New York was carrying more professionals like you. 23 years I was wearing glasses and contacts, In ballet school I even could not perform sometimes due to my eye sight. Maybe this is what people call " I saw an angel" I am honored to write this and share my true story with others.

I have serious doubts about trusting Park Avenue LASEK after a recent office meeting. This place seems to be a lot of hype and promises, but delivering disappointment. I agree with the negative reviews on YELP, this office is out for your money with a non-refundable 2nd opinion/appointment reservation fee of $500. An extra $300 if you want PreVue Lens. Miscommunications regarding procedure, scheduling, and fees abound. I asked about discounts and the 20/15 guarantee in 2015 - totally ignored. $3500 for one eye, $7000 for two eyes - way overpriced. I heard many patients voice their disappointment about their surgery at this office. LASEK is similar to PRK, you're probably better off going elsewhere and getting epi-LASIK by a more competent office. Don't believe me, simply sit in the waiting room office for an hour.

I found Mr. Chynn through a very precise process of looking for the right eye doctor and surgeon who performs extreme cases that no other surgeon in US can do.

it's not fair someone to criticize dr Chynn for being hard on his staff, as he's just enduring they make zero mistakes so all patients have the perfect outcomes they deserve that he is always striving for



I flew all the way to nyc to have dr Chynn fix my eyes because no doctor in my country Albania nor the neighboring countries of Hungary or Romania had any experience fixing someone like me with extreme hyperopia and extreme astigmatism



I also consulted by email with doctors in Germany and France and they also said I was past parameters for lasik



I found dr Chynn because he is the most famous LASEK surgeon in the world. He told me by email he's fixed hundreds of cases like mine. His fellow doctor working for him confirmed this when I called that a case like mine would be even "routine" at Park Avenue LASEK, and that she, too, doubted such extreme prescriptions could be corrected when she started there (having run the largest lasik center in kiev for 6 years beforehand), but now she, too, thinks of cases like mine as "no big deal" in dr Chynn's hands!



So I flew over, had my preop, confirmed I was a good candidate, had my LASEK, and stayed for a week to have my 1-week postop, by which time I was already seeing BETTER THAN I EVER DID IN GLASSES AND CONTACTS



Dr Chynn has graduated from the most famous schools in the world, and at the top of his class at these schools. So of course he has high standards for his employees. I'm glad he does. That's how he was able to give me this miracle



If you want a "nice" doctor who is an average surgeon who went to average schools and can treat average cares, go to your local doctor. If nobody locally can help you, and you want the best in the world, go to dr Chynn. He is performing miracles every day.

When I met Dr, Chynn for my surgery appointment, Dr. Chynn was very methodical and professional which characteristics are the correct personality characteristics someone should seek in a surgeon.

I had been wearing contact lenses for years. But in 2012, I developed an allergic reaction to every contact lense solution out there. Which sucked, because I go swimming a lot (I would have on googles so water wouldn't get in my eyes). So I had to go swimming with poor vision. I ended up going by Park Avenue Lasek and the rest was history. The staff was courteous, knowledgable and professional. They calmed me down, as I am a bit anxious. They advise on financial management, and even help you fill out the forms for CareCredit. And they give excellent instructions for EyeCare pre op and post op. When I had my last regular post op visit, I was actually sad because by then I'd gotten to know the staff. You can't go wrong with them.

I had been told that my corneas were abnormal for laser vision correction, but at this office they do a safer procedure that's even safe for horrible astigmatism.They do LASEK non cutting procedure. I'm a stage artist where looks matter the most. My profession, it was SO important to me to be able to see without glasses, and I just can't handle contacts after so many years of wearing them. I'm lucky that I met Dr.Chynn and his staff and feel comfortable with everyone in the offcie before my procedure and even got to watch it live in the operating room! I waited a bit over three and a half months to post with a final verdict and I can easily say I am really glad to have chosen to have my eyes corrected here(after all, how many times will I be able to say that in the future! lol). The staff at Park Avenue Lasek were all really friendly, relaxed and professional. I had absolutely no pressure at all into getting any specific procedure done and they made sure I was a proper candidate and that I understood the process very well before I decided to go through with it all. They were extremely helpful with every step of the process, answered any questions I had and although they were a bit strict with us taking the precautions necessary afterwards, it has been well worth the result. They were also extremely flexible when it came to medical insurance and helped to make sure I got the best coverage possible for my medications. After 1 week, I went from seeing 20/80(had only 1 eye corrected) to 20/25. After two months, I have got 20/15 vision! I have absolutely no side effects like dryness or pain at all(at this point). Can't be more happy about that. It's been a pleasant experience and I would definitely recommend Dr Chynn and his staff. Although Lasek is a bit more pricey than the traditional Lasik option, it's well worth the safety and the overall better result.

After finding out the pain associated with prk and cornea-cutting LASIK, I came across Dr. Emil Chynn’s practice, Park Avenue Safe Sight in Manhattan. It wasn’t just that Dr. Chynn is the only practice in NYC to perform the non cutting LASEK procedure, but also that some of his office staff had the procedure done them self. Surprising to learn, Dr. Chynn actually underwent LASIK 13 years ago, and thanks to his personal experience he makes sure that all patients are as comfortable as possible. Park Ave LASEK is the one and only center in NY that offers Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) for nervous patients like me. I brought in two friends to watch my surgery and just for that I was given the laughing gas for free! I saved $100 for the cost of the NO2. Quisiera contar un poco mi experiencia al momento de tomar la decisión de tener mi cirugía de correccion de la vision con el Dr Emil W. Chynn en Park Avenue Lasek.



Antes de decidir hacerme mi cirugía sin corte ni flap con Dr Chynn visite varios de los centros mas conocidos en Manhattan. Yo estaba un poco nervioso y quería estar seguro que la cirugía no me iba a producir ojos secos, lo cual es muy común en pacientes que reciben Lasik y Bladeless LASIK. Ya de por sí tenía ya algo de ojos secos por abusar de mis lentes de contacto, y estos me irritaban al final del día. Últimamente sólo les utilizaba para ir el gimnasio y otras actividades concretas, pero no más durante todo el día.



En total visite tres centros antes de decidirme. En estos tres centros nunca vi a un médico sino hasta el final, después de que todos mis exámenes fueran hechos por un técnico.



Yo hacia muchas preguntas, ya que quería estar seguro que estaba tomando la decisión correcta. La gran mayoría de estas preguntas eran ignoradas o respondidas con que espere ver al doctor que el respondiera mis preguntas. Uno de esos técnicos ni siquiera sabía que tipo de láser utilizaban en el centro, lo cual me hizo descartar ese centro.



La gran mayoría de esos técnicos estaban en contactos (fácil de saber cuando yo les he usado por 20 años y puedo saber si están invertidos aún con la luz apagada)



El 3 de enero tuve mi cita en Park Avenue Lasek. Desde qué llegue todo me pareció muy diferente. Tienen ese concepto de "Boutique" en el cual los pacientes antes y después de cirugía tienen contacto en un area de espera comun, muy similar al recibo de una casa, lo cual me dio la oportunidad de preguntarle a dos pacientes (1 semana y 1 mes después de operados acerca de su experiencia y resultados). Ambos estaban muy satisfechos y coincidían de que mejor me aprendiera como debo usar los medicamentos, ya que Dr Chynn era muy estricto con las indicaciones despues de la cirugia.



En Park Avenue Lasek tienen tres doctores que hablan espanol, lo cual me hizo estar mas comodo aun cuando domino el ingles sin problemas.



A mediados de enero tuve mi cirugía la cual sólo duró como un minuto por ojo. Absolutamente indolora. Yo estaba un poco nervioso y además del Valium que habitualmente administran a todos los pacientes, me ofrecieron el "Gas de la risa" u Óxido Nitroso, el cual no sólo te hace relajar más sino que además te sientes como flotando y es una experiencia como sí estuvieras fuera de tu cuerpo. (¡Lástima que no me dieron más!)



Hoy vine por mi examen de un mes despues de la cirugia, y no solo estoy viendo muy bien, sino mejor de lo que podia ver con mis anteojos/lentes de contacto. antes de la cirugia.



Mi unico consejo para aquellos que aun estan en la busqueda del lugar y momento perfecto para corregir su vista, es tomarse la molestia de incluir Park Avenue Lasek dentro de los centros a visitar, y conocer el porque son unicos y la razon por la que la gran mayoria de pacientes estan tan satisfechos.

I have been hesitant and scared to get LASEK done but Dr. Chynn and his staff explain the procedure in detail to give you a full understanding, which makes the patient feel confident to get the surgery. The staff is friendly and informative.

When I had my first appointment at Park Avenue Lasek, it was definitely unique. When I walked in to the office the operating room is located in the front of the office in clear sight of everyone including people walking by in the street. This is very different from any doctor’s office I have ever been in. The front desk staff was very friendly and while I was waiting to be seen I was actually given the opportunity first hand to watch a procedure done by Dr. Chynn. While Dr. Chynn was operating on a patient Dr. Almeida was on hand to explain each step of the procedure. After the procedure was completed, which took less than 10 minutes, Not only was I sold on the procedure but I wanted to get the procedure done right away.

My biggest fear of Lasik surgery is that I did not want anyone to cut into my eyes. But, Dr. Chynn’s superior operation is called SafeSight and it is the non cutting, no flap, and safer alternative. Dr. Emil Chynn’s office at 102 East 25th Street was superior in terms of service, helpfulness, and promptness of service. I called to ask for a post-op appointment at Park Avenue LASEK Vision as soon as possible and was given a same day appointment. His lasek procedure is truly unique in that it is flapless and painless! It was the only center I could find in the area that provided this non-invasive service, and after doing my research, I realized that this is the procedure I wanted for fewer complications. Additionally, the possibility of flap complications was eliminated because I don’t have a flap to begin with. I felt the cost of the procedure was reasonable, and that the benefit of not having to wear glasses any longer make it the best value I have received!
