Dr. Isakova is a board-certified optometrist and diplomate of the American Board of Optometry who is passionate about providing the highest quality primary eye care personalized to the needs of each patient. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. Johnâ€™s University and then received her doctorate from SUNY College of Optometry. She did her residency training in primary care optometry with an emphasis on ocular disease and glaucoma at the Veterans Affairs NY Harbor Healthcare System. Dr. Isakova provides comprehensive eye exams, manages ocular diseases including dry eye disease, glaucoma, and macular degeneration and co-manages pre-and post-operative cataract, LASIK and corneal care. She also fits soft spherical, toric, and multifocal contact lenses.

Dr. Grace (Ha-eun) Chung is a board-certified optometrist with generalized training in multiple fields including glaucoma, dry eye, ocular disease, pre and post cataract, LASIK and corneal surgery. She also specializes in contact lenses including soft, toric and scleral lenses. Dr. Chung received her Doctor of Optometry from SUNY College of Optometry and her Bachelor of Science from the University of Texas at Austin. Macular Degeneration
Dr. Pamel has been at the forefront of these technologies, which include the phakic intraocular lens (implantable contact lens) for the correction of extreme nearsightedness (myopia). Dr. Pamel was the principal investigator for the VerisyseÂ® Phase III FDA clinical trial, which was approved in 2004. He was also involved in another FDA clinical trial for the newest implantable contact lens – the VeriflexÂ® lens.Â In addition he has been involved in the first artificial iris implant in the U.S. for those patients with traumatic or congenital absence of their iris. He was also the first surgeon in New York to implant TecnisÂ® multifocal lens implant, which can correct both distance and reading vision. Currently Dr. Pamel is involved in the study of a new implant for patients who have both cataracts and advanced macular degeneration.
Laser Eye Surgery
Since 2012 Dr. Pamel has been the official LASIK provider for the U.S. Speedskating team where he has donated his time and services to those speedskaters who desired to have LASIK to assist in their performance. Speedskating is the fastest sport on foot where skaters can travel up to 45 miles per hour on the ice. The force of the wind against the skatersâ€™ face can cause contact lenses to dislodge and even fly out of the eye. This cannot only be a competitive disadvantage but can also be extremely dangerous to the skater, as a sudden loss of vision can cause the skater to crash.
Cataracts
The ReZoom, ReStor and Tecnis IOLs are the multifocal IOLs approved by the FDA in the United States. These IOLs lenses have a series of rings of varying powers which correct for nearby, distant, and intermediate vision. An IOL is typically implanted during a cataract operation when the cloudy lens (cataract is removed and replaced).
Cataract Surgery
Gregory J. Pamel, M.D., is one of the first laser cataract eye surgeons in New York City to offer laser refractive cataract surgery using the Optimedica Catalys Precision Laser Platform femtosecond cataract system. Dr. Pamel is able to offer the widest range of customization to his laser cataract surgery patients, and provide a custom solution that will best meet the unique needs of each patient.
Eye Exam
After the comprehensiveÂ dry eye examination, a personalized treatment plan is created by Dr. Pamel and his associates to address the causes of each individual’s dry eye. Some of the treatments listed below are in office treatments while others are home therapy as part of ongoing management.

Ultrasound
These procedures have undergone numerous advancements in the last decade, which have not only made the procedure faster but have also shortened the length of recovery time. The cataract is removed using ultrasound to break up the natural lens. This procedure is called phacoemulsification.
