Jeffrey's Manhattan Eyeland

Jeffrey's is great and so is Jeffrey. He has been making my glasses forever. He is incredibly patient. I made at least 5 visits before selecting one of my several pairs of glasses. He held several frames over that time and was always happy to offer other choices. Most importantly, his work is meticulous. It turns out that there are different "lenses" for "different folks" and it is not always predictable what will work. The issue especially arises in making progressives. The first time I graduated to progressives, Jeffrey stuck with it until I was perfectly happy. The second time, we moved to a new lens that was perfect from the get go. Just yesterday, I was talking to a friend who is having trouble with progressives made elsewhere. I am sending him to Jeffrey just to get the problem diagnosed correctly. I know Jeff will help him, even though there is probably no money to be made this time around. Jeff is an unbelievably good optician.

I'd say that Jeffrey was by far the most competent optician I've ever dealt with. He patientle explained why certain lenses were better for my prescription, and despite the fact that I'm generally suspicious of such advice, I ordered them and was happy to discover that his suggestion was spot on. The frames he sold me were retro-style, and when my toddler decided to rip them from my head and snap the earpiece from the frame, I went to Jeffrey's. He told me that he'd discovered that the frames were in fact fragile and unreliable and that he'd replace the glasses for free, in another frame, also at no cost. Any time I needed an adjustment, he did so gladly, quickly and with care and skill. When the glasses needed to be sent out, I picked them up on the day he said they'd arrive. He is a friendly person, to boot, and given that I'm a commited customer, it's clear that his amiability is not just some front, put on to get me to buy some more expensive product.
