Professional teeth cleanings are also a crucial aspect of oral care. Proper oral hygiene can help to prevent, manage, and treat many oral problems, in many instances keeping minor conditions from worsening.

Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are thin plastic barriers that are used to prevent cavities. Sealants are applied to the chewing surfaces of your posterior teeth where decay is more likely to occur. By providing a layer of protection over the enamel of your teeth, dental sealants prevent plaque buildup in areas that are often hard to reach with a toothbrush. Molars and premolars are examples of teeth that are vulnerable to tooth decay and therefore benefit from sealants.

Fillings
Dental Amalgam is a commonly used dental filling that has been used for over 150 years. It is a mixture of mercury with at least one other metal. Amalgam has many advantages over other restorative material, such as low cost, strength, durability, and bacteriostatic effects. We do not use Amalgam fillings, but have included this section to better inform you.
Resin Composite
Numerous materials are used for dental fillings, including: Gold — Resilient and well-tolerated by the gums, gold is considered to be the best filling material, however, it is expensive. Porcelain — Porcelain fillings, often used in inlays and onlays, can be matched to the color of your teeth and will resist stains. Like gold, however, they are quite costly. Silver amalgam — Silver amalgams are resilient and inexpensive, but are shunned by some patients due to their relatively dark color. Composite resin — Composite resin can be matched to the color of your teeth for a natural appearance, but lacks the resilience of other fillings. This type of filling is usually recommended for small areas of decay or damage. Glass ionomer: Glass ionomers are composed of silicate glass powder and polyalkenoic acid (an ionomer). It is most commonly used as cement for inlay fillings, fillings in the front teeth, around the necks of the teeth, or in the roots.
Veneers
Veneers are thin, tooth colored pieces of porcelain designed to cover the front surfaces of natural teeth. Dentists use porcelain veneers for cosmetic purposes, often to improve the appearance of a person’s smile. Porcelain veneers can change the color, size, shape and length of teeth. Veneers, while improving the appearance of teeth, provide the same strength and resilience of natural tooth enamel.

Bridges
A bridge — a device used to replace missing teeth — attaches artificial teeth to adjacent natural teeth, called abutment teeth. Bridges are either permanently attached (fixed bridges), or they can be removable.

Restorative Dentistry
The procedure begins with an evaluation to determine the best method of treatment to address your particular dental concerns. Your dentist, who must be trained in both oral surgery and restorative dentistry, will implant a small post composed of titanium into the jawbone. Sometimes two dentists, an oral surgeon or periodontist, and a restorative dentist will work in conjunction with each other. The surrounding bone will heal and fuse to the post. This process will take about 6 to 12 weeks, but may take longer depending on how your body heals. Once healing has taken place, a small connector post, called an abutment, is attached to the implant post. Impressions are taken to create a model for your custom-made replacement tooth, or crown. The crown is then cemented or screwed into the abutment.

Root Canal Treatment
Root canals procedures are performed to save a tooth that has become damaged or infected due to severe decay. The pulp, which contains nerve tissue, blood vessels and connective tissue, can become damaged or infected. Root canals remove the damaged pulp tissue and restores the natural tooth’s appearance and function. Root canals are an endodontic treatment, a form of dentistry that repairs the inside components of a tooth.
Apicoectomy
Root canal therapy by an endodontist is most commonly performed to save the natural tooth. The top of the tooth is opened and the infected tissue in the root canal is cleaned out and reshaped. The canal is then filled with a rubber-like material called gutta-percha, along with an adhesive cement, to ensure the complete sealing of the root canal. A temporary filling is used to close the opening and then later removed. The procedure is completed with the placement of a crown or other type of restoration to help protect the tooth. In some cases, a post may be needed to hold the restoration in place. If a root canal can not be used, a procedure known as an apicoectomy is recommended. The infected tooth is exposed by an incision through the gum tissue. The damaged tissue is removed and a root-end filling is inserted to prevent infection. The bone naturally heals around the root and will restore itself to full function within a few months.

Invisalign Orthodontics
Invisalign are custom made aligners created to help improve the appearance of your smile. The aligners are made of a nearly invisible, BPA-free plastic that can be worn over your teeth. Invisalign eliminates the need for brackets, wires and other uncomfortable metal straightening devices that are most commonly used by an orthodontist. The aligner trays gradually shift your teeth into their desired position without interfering with normal daily activities. Since the aligners cannot be seen, many individuals feel confident and comfortable in pursuing this method of treatment to achieve a better-looking smile.
Braces
Traditional orthodontic devices, such as braces, can cause plaque to easily build up and make the process of cleaning your teeth quite arduous. Since Invisalign can be removed, it allows for every day brushing and flossing to be achieved effortlessly. Invisalign can also help to improve the overall health of your teeth and gums, preventing unwanted periodontal diseases, such as gum disease.

Teeth Whitening
In only a day or two your custom bleach splints will be ready for you to pick up. We provide you with a special bleaching agent that you put into the clear splints. With only a few hours of wear per day, our special bleaching agent bubbles stains right out of your enamel in a very short time without altering tooth structure or existing dental work in any way. When your teeth reach the desired brightness, only occasional treatment is needed to maintain your new smile. We’ll want to take “after” photos at your next appointment.
