The bank was established more than 50 years ago as a service for African Americans and Caribbean Americans in New York. It is an urban community development bank that provides a range of services. Carver Bancorp is the holding company of Carver Federal Savings Bank, a federally charted savings bank. Carver Federal Savings Bank has nearly 10 branch locations and dozens of ATM locations in Harlem, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx.
