Dental Examination
When you come in for your dental check-up, you will be given an oral examination and then a cleaning. Here are a few things you can expect on your dental visit that keep your teeth healthy.
X-rays
Particular care is applied to minimize the exposure of young patients to radiation. With contemporary safeguards, the amount of radiation received in a dental x-ray examination is extremely small. The risk is negligible. In fact, dental x-rays represent a far smaller risk than an undetected and untreated dental problem.

Teeth Cleaning
For most people, a checkup and cleaning every 6 months is standard protocol. Depending on a person's dental health, however, a dental cleaning every 3 to 4 months may be recommended.
Space Maintainers
A space maintainer is a removable or fixed appliance designed to maintain an existing space. They are usually fitted to children when they have lost baby teeth early. The gap left from losing this tooth needs to be held open for the permanent tooth to erupt in its correct position.

Fillings
Tooth-colored fillings are today's filling of choice. We can update old silver and gold fillings with these virtually invisible, natural looking fillings.
Veneers
Veneers are thin 'shells' that are permanently bonded to the front of your tooth to improve the appearance of teeth.
Crowns
If the tooth is dirty, hold it by the upper part (the crown) and rinse it off with milk or contact lens solution until most of the dirt is washed away. If you don't have either of those available, then it is best to leave the tooth alone. Wiping it off with a handkerchief or your shirt may cause additional damage to the microscopic cells still on the root surface.
