Fibromyalgia
The most common symptoms of fibromyalgia are muscle pain, fatigue, insomnia, joint pain and headaches. In addition, restless legs, numbness and tingling, impaired memory, leg cramps, impaired concentration and nervousness are accompanying symptoms. Major depression is found in approximately 20% of fibromyalgia patients. While there are no known lab tests that will diagnose this malady, recent research has shown that spinal fluid substance P levels are elevated three-fold in fibromyalgia patients. Spinal levels of nerve growth factor are elevated four-fold in fibromyalgia patients.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic widespread musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder for which there is no known cause. Fibromyalgia means pain in the muscles, ligaments and tendons, the fibrous tissues of the body. In addition to pain and fatigue, other symptoms include un-refreshed sleep, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic headaches, morning stiffness, cognitive or memory impairment, reduced coordination and decreased endurance.

Dr. Jason completed his Chiropractic pre-requisites at Joliet Junior College and Governors State University. He then received his bachelors of science and doctorate of chiropractic degrees from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, graduating Cum Laude. Dr. Jason has additional training in Radiology after completing an 8-month internship in the Clinical Radiology Department at Palmer and has had additional training and experience with pediatric patients through his Palmer Clinic Abroad trip to serve children of all ages on the Caribbean island of Bequia.

At age 18 my hopes were dashed when I fractured the 2nd Vertebrae in my neck. I was treated with traction, bracing, physical therapy. Thankfully my spine healed but I was left with double vision, severe headaches, neck pain, and the tendency to pass out all the time. I was told that I would never be able to hold a “Normal job”, or live a “Normal life”. After a year and a half of living with all these symptoms I went to visit Palmer College of Chiropractic to see if there was any chance that I still could be a Chiropractor. I received my first Chiropractic adjustment and I was amazed. My symptoms changed dramatically with my first treatment. With a new lease on life I dedicated myself to becoming the best Chiropractor I could be so that I could help people the way my Father and I were both helped.
