Shirin Attarian, MD, is an attending physician at the Monter Cancer Center where she specializes in thoracic oncology and cancers of the head and neck. Dr. Attarian is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology, and an assistant professor of medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Dr. Attarian is involved in clinical research at Monter Cancer Center and has authored many peer reviewed publications. She completed her training in internal medicine residency as well as fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Attarian conducted a postdoctoral research fellowship in the neuroendocrine clinical center at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School. She earned her medical degree at the Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran. She is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer. Dr. Attarian specializes in lung and head and neck cancers. She believes that a multidisciplinary, patient-centered approach will result in the best possible outcomes for patients, so Dr. Attarian takes a team approach to each patient’s condition, leveraging today’s cutting-edge technologies to treat each patient. Recent developments, personalized approach to cancer treatment using precision medicine and molecular studies, targeted therapies and immunotherapy have led to improvement in patient care, and Dr. Attarian is excited to bring these innovations to her practice. She believes the rapport and relationships she builds with her patients are essential for providing the best care. Dr. Attarian ensures each patient understands their care plan and gives them her full attention when discussing questions and concerns. Growing up, Dr. Attarian always dreamed of being a doctor.
