I was first introduced with dry cutting curls in 2003. A good friend of mine with a beautiful mane of red curls was given a gift certificate to go to Devachan in NY for a specialized curly cut. She came back eagar to share her experience and gifted me the Curly girl book written by Lorraine Massey, one of the original developers of Deva Curl. I had already loved using their products and couldn’t wait to learn all about this new approach to tending to curls. After a few rounds of practicing on my friend I decided to introduce the idea to my textured clients. They were mostly enthusiastic to try and where thrilled with the outcome. So my clients told their curly haired friends and those curly haired friends told other curly haired friends and now 18 years later 90% of my clientele is textured. I feel very fortunate to have been given this niche by chance from a friend. Shaping the hair, helping people feel confident in their natural appearance and listening to hair troubles and Triumphs is has given me a very rewarding career.
