Ol River Hideaway

The Kane's and their entire staff are as genuine and customer minded as any service organization I have ever dealt with. Our family has stayed at Ol' Kane's Hideaway 10-12 weekends so far and visited with over 100 families staying on-site or visiting store and or entertainment venues and have heard only kind words about overall service. My family called and visited 5 other comparable sites along River Rd and though some are directly on the river, none hold a candle to the Kane's overall customer service.

We were harassed by the owner and accused of non payment. We had never been to this place before. My fam was tubing so we asked the staff at the store about where we should park and wait. Also asked If we could access the river from here. We were instructed by the staff of where to park and we were instructed that access to the river was across the street. We saw signs about a fee to use the access point for river. We asked several people if there was anyone around the property we would need to pay. No one seemed to know. As we were leaving the river to go back to car to change clothes the supposed owner started verbally attacking us about not wanting to pay. We had every intention of paying and we tried to respectfully explain our situation about not knowing. He yelled over us and kept saying he didn't want to hear it and repeatedly stated we were not wanting to pay. Even though my husband had already pulled his wallet out to pay. He was irrational, rude and I feared for our safety.

Stayed here This weekend and will NEVER go back! The owner was so rude, we have never been treated like we were here. The bar and volleyball courts were nice but it ended there. We brought our RV and were supposed to have septic hookups like their website says but had none. Had to share the water hookup because we did not have that either. Expect to pay to take a shower and expect to pay $18.00 if you exit the river at the campground even though you are PAYING to camp there. rude , unprofessional and he(the owner) must be a very unhappy person.

As a bartender there, I regularly talk to the people who are staying there, (and other places on the river as well) and they are always so pleased to be staying there, (or wish they were). The owners, Kim and Bob always treat their campers with respect, always trying to make them happy, and so on. Our campers, and this isn't a biased comment in any way, say they can't wait for their next stay, because they've had so much fun there. We get a lot of campers from other sites who are displeased with their current stay, so they come hang out, and listen to the live bands or the DJ we have. It's actually a very wonderful place to be, and I'm surprise anyone would say anything bad about it.

The campsites are tiny and a good walk away from the river. Anytime they came and asked us to do something it was in the rudest way possible. They need to try some manners. They are old, bitter, trash.
