Root Canal Treatment
A patient can experience tooth recession because of aggressive tooth brushing or periodontal gum disease. This form of gum disease can be characterized by visible tooth roots. Many patients with this disease also claim tooth sensitivity, root canals, crowns and tooth loss (in extreme cases). This treatment should be performed by a professional that is Board-Certified in Periodontics to cover the roots.

Deep Cleaning
Gingivitis is the most common form of gum disease. It is the earliest stage of periodontitis and is normally the result of a build-up of bacterial plaque along the edges of the gums where they meet the teeth. At this stage your gums may be easily irritated, become swollen, puffy, and red, and may even bleed slightly when you brush or floss. Dr. Jason C. Stoner is a Board-Certified Periodontist and Implantologist accredited by the American Board of Periodontology and Dental Implantology, and is located in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Stoner attended The Ohio State University and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Military History in 1993. Dr. Stoner immediately entered The Ohio State University College of Dentistry where he received his D.D.S. Degree in 1997 and began research in cancer identification and treatment. Dr. Stoner furthered his training and received his Certificate in Periodontology at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry Section of Periodontology’s three-year Residency Training Program, a specialty devoted to expertise in dental implantology and periodontology therapeutics. Simultaneous to his residency training, Dr. Stoner completed a Master’s Degree in Oral Surgery, Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine for his continued research in the field of medicinal cancer therapy for which he was awarded a scholarship twice. This intensive research program focused on the utilization of thalidomide for the treatment of Kaposi’s sarcoma, and resulted in awards for two years consecutively by the American Cancer Society where he achieved Fellowship status-a distinguished honor reserved for only two people per year between dental, medical, Ph.D. and Master’s students and pharmacists.
Gum Surgery
Laser gum treatment is a revolutionary, non-invasive way to treat periodontal disease (also called gum disease.) It targets unhealthy gum tissue and eliminates bacteria without harming the surrounding gum tissue, and with out the need for gum surgery. Laser gum therapy can also be used as an esthetic treatment, to change the appearance of your gums for a more even smile.
Tooth Extractions
If your dental professional recommends a tooth extraction, whether it’s because the tooth has become decayed, it’s an impacted wisdom tooth, or more, he or she may suggest tooth socket preservation. As adults, we find tooth removal to be a bit intimidating as we see it odd to be removing a permanent tooth. When a tooth needs to be replaced after extraction, a beneficial way to keep the socket preserved is by using the below procedure to do so.
Ridge Augmentation

The Acellular dermal matrix material is a soft tissue material that is essentially donated human skin tissue. Just like the bone grafting material, this soft tissue undergoes a multi-step process that eliminates the chance of rejection. The outer skin layer is removed (the epidermis) to ensure the material isn’t antigenic.

Orthodontics
If you feel self-conscious about the misalignment of your teeth, you may have already considered traditional orthodontics. However, with surgically facilitated orthodontics, this treatment can accelerate the procedure time using the Wilcodontic technique. This technique, sometimes referred to as Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics, uses a Regional Accelatory Phenomenon (RAP) that supports the teeth when the alignment is in process thereby reducing damaging root resorption and speeding up treatment to be completed in less than half the time of normal braces.
Invisalign Orthodontics
Some periodontists will recommend orthodontic measures to be taken to realign or reposition your teeth so they meet properly. If small movements are needed, the treatment may not require years for braces or Invisalign, but may be accomplished in a matter of months with the latest in tooth alignment techniques. Talk to your periodontist about if orthodontic measures should be taken to realign your teeth for a better bite.
Braces
Once the tooth is exposed through the gum, a small bracket is attached (similar to braces), and it is quickly and easily brought into alignment with the rest of the arch of teeth in the upper or lower jaw. The time necessary for the tooth to erupt into the mouth after this procedure is usually 2-4 months, although it may take up to 9 months depending on the patient’s rate of tooth eruption.
