WAVE 3 Television is a television station operating out of Louisville, Ky. The station operates on very high frequency channel three and is owned by Liberty Communications Media, a conglomerate of television stations from Syracuse, N.Y., to Honolulu. WAVE 3 Television broadcasts from its main studio in downtown Louisville and its transmitter which is located in La Grange, Ky. WAVE signed on November 24, 1948, on channel five. It was Kentucky's first television station and moved to channel three in 1953 due to interference from WLWT in Cincinnati. Raycom Media acquired the station in 2005 as part of the Liberty Corporation acquisition. WAVE 3 Television broadcasts digitally on channel 47.
