The Dog Wizard

A little mix breed dog (Jack Russell/?) showed up at my company. Shortly thereafter she delivered 8 puppies. We were able to eventually find homes for the puppies but did not do as well with Ms. Daisy. Someone took her for two weeks but then brought her back because she could not get along with their female dog. I had two dogs a bernese and golden already and did not want to add that 3rd one. However, after a period of time, I realized I either needed to take her as mine or else make other arrangements. It proved to be very disrupted to our family. My husband and I go to the mountains and could walk our other dogs off leash and they take commands very well. We just could not get Daisy to settle down. If she got loose she would never respond to our calls to come or anything. We could not trust her with other dogs. Out of desperation, I called the Dog Wizard. Truthfully, Daisy was taking the joy out of our time in the mountains. We are so pleased with what the results. Daisy is now able to walk around Bass Lake without a leash. My husband lets her run with him and she does great. We truly enjoy her now and would never think of not having her in our lives. All this is because of The Dog Wizard.

From the moment our dog Gracie was picked up the first time by The Dog Wizard staff, I could tell that she was going to be a changed dog! At the time Gracie was a two-year-old golden retriever who had been left quite a bit while my husband and I were in the process of moving to Charlotte. Since she is a golden, she loves people and started acting out when we were not there, especially chewing. Wooden cabinets were her favorites and we were trying to sell our house! She was also very needy, jumping on everyone and never EVER coming when I called. To further complicate things, we were temporarily living in an apartment and she was used to a big yard...After a two week boot camp at the Dog Wizard, she was a changed dog. The people in our apartment complex were always amazed at how she heels right next to me without a leash. I would often take her to Starbucks where she would sit on a chair and wait patiently while I got my double tall latte. She would allow people to pet her but would stay put when they left. Never, ever would I have believed that she would stay put when someone left her! We have now moved into a house and have gotten a little lax but she still remembers her commands , never chews, and is generally a delight. She usually attends our parties and is usually a (well-behaved) hit! In addition to performing miracles with my dog, the staff at the Dog Wizard could not be nicer. They really do care!! Our puppy Piper was nicknamed "Hyper Piper". She was such a sweetie but would run off, jump on everyone, chew shoes, you name it she did it. Dog Wizard helped calm her down and helped us bring her under control. Now she runs around the neighborhood with our son (Just like "My Dog Skip") and is a happy little girl! All thanks to the Dog Wizard.

We had wonderful results with The Dog Wizard's training. Harley is a happier dog and we are happier owners.

Our 8 year old schnauzer used to bark at virtually everyone and nip at children. When our son had twin grandsons, we knew Reggie's behavior had to change. We contacted the Dog Wizard and put Reggie into the 2 week "bootcamp." When Gretchen returned him, he literally was a new dog. Now he goes on walks with us - without a leash - and plays with both kids and animals alike. Our neighbor said it best, "That was money well spent." AMEN

I knew we needed some help when our 5 month old German Shepherd, Jessie, was taking control of our house! She was a big ball of energy. Her paws were always on counters, she jumped onto furniture uninvited, pulled on her leash during walks, was skittish and fearful of other dogs, was having troubles with house training, etc. She was growing like a weed and I knew we needed to get in control of her!



A friend referred The Dog Wizard to us, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. Jessie walks great on a leash, obeys commands when she’s off-leash, and LOVES playing with other dogs. I really wish we would have taken a before and after video of her… the transformation was truly amazing!!! They’ve got a friendly, skilled and accommodating staff (thank you Jake!!) who will meet you for training sessions wherever you want to meet. Group sessions meet twice a week. I can’t say enough about how much happier our lives are (and our dog’s life!) having gone through this training. Highly recommended!

The Dog Wizard is just that - a wizard in dog training! I got a bloodhound puppy and I knew they were suborn dogs but thought I could handle the challenge. I wasn't having much progress because she got so big so quick it was like trying to walk a baby rhino. I resorted to not walking her because I wasn't strong enough to fight the dragging and pulling. Then she got sick and had to have major surgery. After six weeks in an e-collar and being crated all day every day so she wouldn't tear her stitches, she went crazy and would knock people off their feet. She was wild and aggressive. I called The Dog Wizard after she knocked down my 78 yr old mother and basically told them, 'Take her. If you can't train her, she goes.' When they returned with her and taught me what I needed to learn to maintain the training, I couldn't believe the difference. I was shocked. I still can't believe it's the same dog. Now I have a dog that walks next to my off leash and sits and stays at the bottom of the driveway when I get the mail. When we walk, the leash is rarely pulled tight and I only use the leash because it's the law. She'd be fine without the leash. She plays at the dog park without problems. She plays with my son and it's the ideal story of 'a boy and his dog'. When I work at home she lies at my feet and is the worst secretary but the best dog. I highly recommend The Dog Wizard.

I dont know what I would have done over the last two years without the dog wizard!! I had one of those puppies who didn't respond to anything - yelling, commands, time out in the cage, nothing worked. He would chew on things, run away, totally disregard me as an owner. I refused to use any sort of physical punishment as a method of training. I had a friend who tried the Dog Wizard and came highly recommended. Now, all of our friends use Jake and we have well behaved dogs. I live in a high rise building and every day I encounter someone in the elevator who says "what a well behaved dog" because he doesn't jump on people as they get on/off the elevator. At first, I thought it was alot of money. Then I realized after my puppy ate several pairs of sunglasses, shoes, furniture, it added up to way more than the cost of training. If I didn't do something fast, I was going to lose more expensive items. The best part is that we can go to the group trainings once a month or so to give him a refresher. I like the up front, one time payment and it covers everything. Don't think about using anyone else - The Dog Wizard is the only way to go!

We cannot recommend The Dog Wizard highly enough! Our experience was with an extremely nervous and shy young lab. She only our family and our other dogs. When guests came to our home it was a nightmare because she would run away from them barking, growling and urinating all at the same time. She had just started nipping at people when we decided to call The Dog Wizard. Also, we were so fearful if she ever got loose from us we knew we would never get her back. She left with Gretchen for 2 weeks and came back a confident and self assured little girl. She is great around all people old and young. She is off leash now and enjoys everything a dog should enjoy in life. No more fear, nervousness or fear biting. It was truly an amazing transformation.

Let me tell you about my Chocolate Lab (aka- Our Chocolate Moose)- Charley....... We thought we had the most ill behaved dog around. Lovable-yes, misbehaved- totally! We couldn't open the front door without having to hold him back. He would dart out and take off on us. When we would try to catch him, he thought it was a game. He wouldn't listen to us. We were so worried that something would happen to him! Well... it did. One night he snuck out the gate and took off after a cat. The chase led him to the closest busy street and he was hit by a car. He was very lucky though. Nothing was broken and he suffered no internal injuries. We knew we had to do something. Next time he might not be so lucky. That is when we called The Dog Wizard. Gretchen came to our home and meet Charley. You can tell she loves dogs and totally understands how they think. Gretchen brought her dogs with her to show us the commands and how she trains. We were absolutely amazed! We signed Charley up for the 2 week boot camp and he came back to us happy and so well behaved! We can now take him places off leash, does not jump on people that come to our home and he gets along better with other dogs. The transformation was amazing! I would absolutely recommend The Dog Wizard!!!

I have nothing but positive things to say about Gretchen and her team! We have a 6 month old yellow lab puppy who rocked our world from the day we brought him home. While Flecth is a fantastic dog, he definately needed some help with his "manners". We chose the program that allowed him to live with the trainer for 2 weeks. he is home now and I cannot begin to explain what a fantastic puppy he is! Thanks to Gretchen, Fletch is able to enjoy even more time with our family - his obediance is out of this world! As a result we have him with us all the time, no matter the circumstance. He is a joy to have around!!!!

This organization is outstanding. Not only do they take the time to get to know your dog, but they also do extensive training and explain to you why your dog has a certain behavior. They provide you with the stepping stones needed to give your dog a better and well-behaved life. Their prices are reasonable and the one-on-one training they provide is exceptional.



One of my favorite things about The Dog Wizard is that the trainers don't treat dogs as "just a dog," they treat each animal as a one of a kind pet and it put the owner at ease.



I highly recommend The Dog Wizard to anyone who wants a well-trained, happy dog, they will give you what you are looking for!
