Overall

Forget about their guy seeming half-rude upon arrival, these clowns left the panel off our AC unit on the roof when they left. Unless a burglar slipped up there just to steal some screws, their work was pretty clear. Get in fast, bill high, and don't bother completing the job. This exposure to the elements WHICH THEY CAUSED costs us hundreds of dollars in repair costs - this time from a competent and mature professional. DON'T MAKE OUR MISTAKE.

A BIG THANKS !!

We called Duct Works after our air went out & is was SO SO HOT. They said that they would take care of us and they sure did !! They showed up on time - (actually a little earlier than promised) and went right to work. They were very professional & informative about how to best take care of my heating and air needs. I definately recommend them. It is nice to know, there are some people still out there that do what they say. Thank you. I just felt like you needed to know.

LIFE SAVER

Duct works air and heat came to my fathers house in the middle of the night to fix his air conditioner, my father is an elderly man with resporitory problems it meant the world to me that they would honor there emergency service and offer a senior discount, when other companies could not be reached.

Out back in Monroe

I had Duct Works come out and give my too old to remember a/c unit a tune-up. Man, what a difference! I don't think it ran any better when it was new. I am well pleased and am considering a maintenance contract. I think that 89 bucks is a pretty low price to pay since the guys on radio want $139 to park in your driveway. Only thing that I'd change is that I would have called sooner before it got to be 95 degrees in shade. - Ben

Trained by doctors?

I called this place up about 10 am on Monday, he said he'd be here between 2 and 4, and he'd give me a call on the way. I had actually called up two places already, and he had the best Phone Service when I first talked to him. He called me about 2:15 and told me he was on his way and would be here in about 30 minutes. An hour passed, and I thought maybe he got into an accident or something when I didn't hear back from him! I called him up about 3:20, and he said he had stopped to get some parts and would be here in 30 minutes. He ended up showing up a bit after 4pm. I had explained that we thought we needed parts, the thermostat wasn't getting power, ect. Well, he looked at the unit, then said it needed a transfor,er and a circuit board, and that he probably wouldn't be able to get the parts it needed until tomorow.

At this point I had already gone without a/c since Sunday afternoon, and was very disappointed and angry that he didn't have the parts! He made a few phone calls and said one company would have to ship the part in from Hickory, and was talking about coming back the next day. I paid him the $89.00 service fee, and he left.

I called another a/c company (A Air Cond Heating and Repair - which claims it works 24 hours BTW), and they said they had a universal transformer, and that he could get the a/c working that night and beat the prices that Duct Works Air and Heat had given me. Well, this other company ended up getting the a/c unit working with the universal transformer; although his price for just the transformer ended up to be higher then the price that DuctWorks had quoted me for the Transformer. (The other A/c company was going by the price DW had quoted me for the circoat board.) The A/C guy from A Air had at first thought the circuit board should be fine, but when he got here, he said it needed to be replaced as well. He did install the universal transormer, and figured with our heat pump system - we could bypass the circuit board until winter time (circuit board controls the heating, but not cooling). We had a/c when he left, but at a higher price then Ductworks had quoted for the transformer (DW had quoted $98 for transformer, $198 for circuit board - under warranty parts - we ended up paying $218 for a transformer and some freon recharging - but the second repairman waived his service fee of $59.00 - DW had a service fee of $89.00).

Anyhow, I guess the man at Duct Works Air and Heating had good prices, but that is too long to wait for a/c, and I don't understand why he didn't even bring up the universal transformer! He should have brought parts with him. If you don't mind possibly waiting 2 days for parts and service, go with DuctWorks for a better price. If you're sweating your pants off and agitaged by the heat, I suggest going with another company. It's just a real shame that they charge a fee just to go out there, and no one wants to tell you prices over the phone!

Agreed time was between 2-4. Customer had wasted prior day trying to replace thermostat. Universal transformers are a part of Duct Works truck stock. I did not feel that bypassing the control board would be reliable for system operations or necessary on 78 degree day. Correct parts would have been installed the following day. Actually, I had ordered parts and lost money on this job. The other company did not fix the circuit board (required)and price was still higher. Customer will add yet another service call and cost of circuit board before winter. Call Duct Works 704-634-0421 for the right parts at the best price.
