Are you kidding me?! I have no idea why someone would give them low marks. As a long-time, frequent customer, I give them the highest marks. Great food, great coffee convenient location, super service. They treat you like family. Nothing to complain about.

I worked for D's for almost two weeks when my employment was terminated. Why was I terminated? Simply because I got sick. Making minimum wage at less than thirty hours a week at this restaurant meant I didn't have the extra money (or insurance) to go see a doctor, add to the mix that I have to help my grandparents pay the mortgage on their house or else we are homeless...well you get the picture...Pay a doctor or lose your home... hmmm...what to do? lol. D's however does not actually tell you that your fired. No, at D's they have a passive policy that fires employees on behalf of management. The policy is if you don't bring in a Dr.'s Note you can't work for ten days...I called and called the manager, left messages (or so I thought) and never got a responce. To this day no one has officially fired me, lol, buts its obvious I suppose. Either my manager got my messages and ignored them or the wait-staff never gave him the messages. I wouldn't be suprised either way. I know the wait-staff had it out for me because I am not a local redneck so I guess they won in the end. My advice to future applicants is simple, if you aren't a local hick then don't apply and waste your time, you will not last. My advice to the manager, train your new employees in all aspects of the kitchen right away, don't have them wash dishes for two weeks. The more employees your train the less control your current employees (the clique) have over you. Less face it, you have the problems you have because your are dependent on your current staff. If all of your cooks quit tommorrow you'd have to shut the doors and you know that. The manager emphasized to me on several occasions that his staff are his family and he treats them as such. Well, If that's the way you treat your family (kicking them when their down) I'm glad I'm not actually related to you. Good luck and thanks for nothing D's!
