The Cocoa Tree

The Cocoa Tree is a great concept - an artisan chocolatier with some seating to enjoy your chocolate treats or hot cocoa. Unfortunately, the execution is disappointing. After waiting about 10 minutes on a busy Saturday to place our order (a milk chocolate truffle & 2 peanut butter bites) we had to wait at least another 15 minutes while the cashier traded life stories with the people he was ringing up - letting several people stack up in line. We very nearly left. Still, we paid and left hoping the chocolates would be worth the wait. The truffle was passable - but no better than what you'd buy at a chain chocolate store in the mall; in fact, not as good. The peanut butter bites were abysmal. The texture was so grainy you could not even taste the peanut butter. Clearly they are using brown sugar or granulated for the filling. The texture was disgusting, and there was an oil ring collected on the bottom of each chocolate. Skip this forgettable, pretentious and far over-priced for the quality spot and satisfy your sweet tooth with one of Nashville's many other bakeries or treat shops.
