My 2009 Honda Civic wouldn't start one morning, so I had it jumped and it started. A few minutes later, my car made strange noises and I smelled a sulfur odor. I read online that this could mean I had a bad battery, so I bought a new one. The car started up easily after that. The next morning my car wouldn't start again. It just made a clicking sound and the lights on the console flickered. I jumped it again and drove to AutoZone to have them test the new battery. They said that the alternator, battery, and starter were all fine according to their free diagnostic test. They said I should take it to Sears to see if there was a loose connection or corrosion somewhere. The Sears attendant came out to look at my car and started telling me about how I needed new tires and alignment, and I felt like I was being pushed to do repairs that I hadn't even asked for. To make it even worse, she quoted me a price of $380 for 3 new tires. I went on the SEARS WEBSITE and looked up those exact tires, and she had quoted me a much higher price than what I found there! I would have been able to get 4 new tires for $303 after all the taxes and installation fees. I called back to ask about this, and I could tell she was being dishonest with me. She said sometimes the website adds in an extra charge at the end and maybe that was why they were cheaper online. She said she couldn't honor the online price because they were the Sears store (which makes no sense!). She then had the nerve to ask me to let her know if I buy the tires online so she could get her commission. She said they were going to test my battery, alternator, and starter for $20. I handed her the printed copy of the test that AutoZone had just done about 20 minutes earlier (for FREE might I add) and asked if their test was going to test anything new. She said they would be able to figure it out, so I said go ahead and do the tests. She calls me back to say that they didn't find anything when they did that redundant test, and they had no idea of anything else it could be. Then she started in on how my transmission fluid was dirty and I needed a new air filter. Basically, I felt like they were trying to get whatever money they could from me. It felt like a shakedown from a bunch of people who don't know what they are doing. DO NOT GO TO THIS SEARS AUTO CENTER.
