Established in 1939, Lockeland Elementary School enrolls more than 300 students in kindergarten through grade four. The school spreads across an area of over 40,000 square feet. It focuses on the development of reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Lockeland Elementary School s curriculum includes language arts, math, Spanish, English, music and physical education. The school has a media center that houses various computers. It administers the English Language Learners program. In addition, Lockeland Elementary School offers special education classes for gifted and talented students. The school features drama and running clubs, as well as operates a parent-teacher organization. It is a part of Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.

This elementary school is a jewel in the heart of East Nashville! It is a public school with a private school feel. From the principal, to the teachers, to the staff and maintenance crew, it feels like a family.
