Bad Business

I have been to this shop a few times and i have always over looked the rudeness or the fact that you have to hand them the hair even though you are paying alot of money for their services. However today I came in to get long twists, and i asked the owner how much it would be and she said $220.00 which was fine, so when she finished (8 1/2 hours later) I paid her the amount we had already discussed, but as i was leaving the shop she ran outside and told me I owed her 50.00 more dollars because the hair wasn't included in the price. So all the confusion and conflict could have been avoided if she would of told me that $220 was for twist and that it would be $50 for the hair. Then I would of paid her $270. This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

Sad but true

I used to swear by this shop but the past few times I have attempted to give them business, have been less than desirable. The shop is dirty, it takes at least 10 minutes after you walk in to get greeted. When you call you are quoted one price and they up the price drastically once you come in. The manager or owner argued with me and said I have a problem listening when I told her what I was quoted. Needless to say I will never go back. Instead I have found a new shop in Smyrna called Ss African hair braiding. Check out their FB page. They are very friendly and you pay the quoted price, it is also clean and they treat you like a customer. Dior needs to take customer service advice from these ladies.

I am going to be 100% honest about this place. They are wonderful braiders..the ones who are experienced and seasoned. I have seen them do some wonderful work and I have seen the less experienced braiders do terrible work. I once had a braider braid my edges too small and the braids along my edges started popping off one by one. Needless to say, she didn't last there. Acknowledging the problem, the manager gave me a discount on my next braiding.

I only allow one person to do my hair because she knows my texture, she's good at braiding, and her cousin used to braid my hair for years and referred me to her. I always receive compliments on my braids when does them...ALWAYS and I have been a customer with her for nearly 2 years with my braids being redone every 6 to 8 weeks and I was a customer of her cousin's for nearly 3-4 years. You do the math.

It is expensive, but you are not in a major metropolitan area that is saturated with professional, accredited braiders like Brooklyn, Dallas, Atlanta or Chicago. It's Nashville, TN. It's more expensive because they have a monopoly on the business. If you can't afford it - go else where. There are plenty of amateur braiders out there - just ask at your local hair shop.

Yes, they can come off as rude, and I agree they do need better finesse when dealing with customers... but there are also customers who come in with ridiculous expectations. Prime examples (since I am in there so often): There was a woman who wanted kinky twists, bi-color (blonde and honey brown), and long. Well that's great, but the hair she bought was too short. She was told this. She refused to listen and then was not happy with the length of her hair when they were finished. Kinky twists shrink when they dip them in the hot water - they are supposed to! Another woman was upset because she didn't think it was going to take that long to braid her hair - seriously?!? You are not getting a relaxer. Allow at least 8 hours with breaks.

You must discuss what you want with done with the braider before they even begin in case the hair you buy is incorrect, or too short - or let's face it, the style just can not be done (which is rare, but it does happen).

There are so many factors that are in play when you are getting your hair braided - length of the hair you buy, texture, color, your hair color, your hair texture, your hair length and TIME. You must allow TIME to get your hair braided. You will sit for 4..6..8 hours or more. That is the nature of braiding.

If this place wasn't reputable in the least bit, there wouldn't be frequent men, women, and children who come to get their hair braided, including me. Yes, I know I could probably go to someone's cousin twice removed and pay cheaper, but I also know there is a level of accountability that this shop has that cousin pookie does not.

This place has got to be the w...

This place has got to be the worst braiding salon ever. First, I drove an hour and a half from KY and showed up at the Clarksville, TN location, to my surprise the location was shut down. I attempted to call the owner which she took almost an hour to call me back to tell me to drive to Nashville (another hour) to dior salon instead and promised that two braiders would be available and I would be finish within 3-4 hours. I arrived to the nashville location, only one braider was available. To make matters worst, there was either a language barrier or they refused to listen to me when I was trying to instruct them on how I wanted my hair done. I usually get my hair done in DC but had to settle for this place out of desperation. But NEVER AGAIN. When the braider finished, there a huge part in the middle of my head. I pain $220 to have the braids braided past my hair (because they said my hair was too long) but there was no uniform pattern of the braids. Each individual braid was braided according to my hair length, any idiot can tell that hair was uneven in length just by looking at it. I am mortified and embarrassed by my hair. I work in a professional setting, my hair looks like some girl from the ghetto did it for $50 (looking back I would have been better off). When I tried to explain it to the owner, she walked off talking smack in her native tongue. She didn't realize that I could understand half of the stuff she was saying because I'm fluent in french and their language has a mixture of french. I don't know if the folks in Nashville are used to settle for mediocrity but I think this place is a complete disgrace to the african hair braiding community. To make matters worst, I'm on my way out the door and one of the workers ran behind screaming that I didn't pay, completely embarrassed me in front of the other clients. I was trying to explain to her that I paid another worker, finally that other worker came out and confirmed that I had paid her already. Too bad that one star is the lower that I could give.

I thought that the braider was a miracle worker because she did my micros really fast,Around the edges were great but in the middle my braids were medium size.I payed 250.00 because she said that my hair was to long to get a lower price..Im from Detroit and I wear micro braids all of the time just never have been so disapointed..I feel like my hair was half done simply because my braids were not Micros...I would not go back to this salon for Micros...

Not a Good Job

I got micro braids from this salon a few months ago after my friend had a bad expereince, but the other braid shop was booked so I wanted to give it a try. I wasted $220 I bought the hair from the shop very, very cheap hair, but charged me a lot of money. I wouldn't recommend it. The owner came in collected her money and left the shop.

I wouldnt recommend this place to my worse enemy! They are so unprofessional. When you arrive they don't greet you and you are not asked what time is your appt. If it's around 9:00 and you get there before time, they will just assign you to someone and skip over the one's that had an appointment and didn't arrive until then. They change the prices. They tell you one thing over the phone and when you get there it is something totally different. They rush on your head. I got kinky twist and the following week I had to go back because they were coming a loose!!Then the owner acted if she didnt won't the women to fix them. I paid over $200.00 and I wasnt leaving until they was fixed! That place sucks. They are only ripping people off! I will never go backagain. Im as SO dissapointed!!!
