General Info

The Department of Codes and Building Safety is administered by the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County in Tennessee. The department permits, inspects and enforces products to the Nashville community. It operates administrative, plans examination, building, electrical, plumbing and zoning inspection divisions. The department s property standards division is responsible for the enforcement of the metro zoning ordinances in connection with building permits and associated Use and Occupancy certificates. It also investigates zoning code violations and handles abandoned vehicles on public streets. The Department of Codes and Building Safety offers online permit application solutions. It maintains a common tracking system that allows other departments and agencies to access the permit process.
