La Hacienda De Los Fernandez

My family and I went to Hacienda de Los Fernandez in Naperville for the first time yesterday, June 3rd, 2013. We will never go again.

The service was OK, but the food was not. My wife had the flautas and they were cold and bland. I had the Enchiladas combination, one each of the cheese, beef and chicken varieties. The chicken was stringy and dry, the cheese was basically tasteless. The cheese had no flavor at all. The beef was terrible, it was thin and more like a liquid than ground beef. My daughter had the fish tacos. The fish was NOT fresh! It tasted very fishy and old. I tasted it and told her to stop eating it. We noticed that the person in charge of clearing off the dirty tables was coughing, but not covering his mouth, so he was basically coughing on the tables as he was cleaning them. Never again!

I took my visiting family to this restaurant because of the 1 review written. I must say ,extreme disapointment took over with my dinner of a Red Snapper. It was dry and old tasting. Worse than bad. Bye !!

As usual w/any new restaurant - the first time we tired to eat there (on saturday evening) the waiting area was packed, we couldn't even get to the hostess stand! We tried again the next day for lunch - this time we were a table of 9, we were seated within 5 mins. The food was fresh, well prepared, server was prompt, polite & attentive. I give it a rating of very good - which will become an Exceptional if the same standards are met when we return for our 2nd, 3rd & 4th visit. Hopefully this will become our favorite Mexican food restaruant, it seems to be well on it's way!
