Dr. C Alkema, MD

Dr Alkema is THE WORST dr i have ever met in my life. my 2 small girls went to him for about 2 months. he is extremely rude and ruff with children.Very unprofessional, and has no business being a pediatrician! there is no reason to act like he is better than anyone else. He does not listen to what you have to say and did mot treat my children with respect.

Experience:I had to argue with him to try to get a prescription antibiotics for my daughter for pink eye. She has had it 3 other times in her life and i know when it gets to the point when it needs to be treated with antibiotics.
Also, Its pretty bad when the child's dad wants to pull her off the table because Dr. Alkema is using to much force to hold down a 2 year old and making her scream on at top of her lungs because he is hurting she and scared! he did not even attempt to show her or explain to her what a stethoscope was, what it did or that it was not going to hurt her. His response was.. this is normal for a 2 year old to react like this. She has seen 6 other doctors in her life and a few ER doctors and we have NEVER had a problem. (Its called being kid friendly!!! Something he is not!!)
Another incident with this dr of unnessiciary roughness with my newborn when he was examining her he made her turn white from screaming because he had the tongue compressor pressed so hard on her mouth it was seriously hurting her.
I wanted to space out my daughters shots one week apart so her little body was not so over whelmed with the 15 different vaccines all combined into 3 shots and the nurses did not have a problem with it however Dr. Alkema did. He told me not to act like i know more than the whole rest of the country. I told him i didn't but i knew what was best for my daughter and this is what i wanted. He then tried to make it extremely difficult to only do 1/2 this week. said he wasn't going to order the one of the shots for another month.. etc. immediately after walking out of the building.. i called the insurance company and changed to a different doctor i told them i had had enough of this dr. and didn't need to put up with this mis treatment every time i took my children to the doctor.

I would not recommend anyone to see this Dr. There are plenty other doctors out there and ones that will not hurt your children while doing regular check-ups or make the parents feel like they know absolutely nothing about their child or what is best for them.

If I could give him no stars I would. This doctor is the worst I've ever had in my entire life and I am still emotionally scarred from his treatment when I was a child. I am now 25 years old. My mom had to yell at him and find me a new doctor because he slammed my legs down onto the the table and held me there very roughly while performing a physical. Before this I also had strep throat 7-10 times a year and when we found a new pediatrician they told me that my tonsils were permantly infected and I needed them removed immediately. Now I have long lasting issues into adulthood from all of the antibiotics. Absolutely do not take your child to this doctor.

Dr. alkema is a horrible dctr. I took my daughter to him for hair loss. After I tried to provide him with a family history of hair loss, alapecia, he rudely stated that he did not care about my family history. I immediately found another dr.
