African Nubian's Hair Braiding & Weaving

This is the second time I have came to this shop get my hair sew in. I don't have much experience with weave, I have only gotten weave put in twice (both done by them), but I feel they did an excellent job, that is coming from someone with no experience on what 'good work' looks like. They were however, very nice and prices were very reasonable, they also work quickly but throughly. I defiantly plan on going back when I plan on getting hair put back in.

I do not recommend anyone getting her hair done at this place. After two failed attempts to braid my hair correctly, let’s just say I will not send my doll to this shop. 1st attempt: After the stylist arriving 30 mins. late, the stylist ask what size micro braids I wanted. She braided a braid for me to see and I selected "what she called" the medium size. I have had my hair braided with micro braids in the past so I knew what to expect. Micro braids are to be braided past your hair, so with my natural hair it is very important. Six hours later, she was finished. I did not like the fact that she put so much gel and hair moose in my hair, and noticed my own hair was sticking out of the braids. The next morning I showered and naturally my hair got wet and I noticed as the minutes went by my hair started to get bigger and bigger. Perm straight micro braid with natural hair does not mix. I called the shop and spoke with the owner (Fatu). I went back that morning for her to attempt to fix the braids. I am explaining to her what I did not like and why all my hair was not was braided in as I asked for micro braids. She told me my hair was long and that I needed longer hair. I told her I have always purchased 18” hair so why is it a problem. She continued to argue with me and I told her she was the professional and should know how to accommodate all length of hair and I’m not satisfied with the job done. The front of my hair was braided nicely, the back of my hair was very spaced out and big which did not match the front. So she agreed to redo my hair. 2nd attempt: This time the owner was braiding my hair. I told her and showed her pictures of what I did not like about Patricia braiding my hair. She said the braid would be bigger in the back because my hair was thicker. I said the thickness of my hair should not have anything to do with the size of the braids. The front should not be one size and the back a different size. She said well, “Patricia said you were in a hurry to leave and you told her to just hurry up and get my hair done”. Not only did they do an awful job braiding my hair, now her employee is lying on a client. I told her Patricia was lying, and if what she said were true, I would have never come back the next day complaining about the braids. The only response the owner (Fatu) could say was, “I wasn’t here so”. I said, no, you were not and if you were maybe we wouldn’t not be in this situation now. And told her “let’s see if she could right a wrong…. She did not, my hair looks worse. I cannot speak to any other type of braids, but if you want micro braids, this is not the shop.

The ladies there are fanstatic and fast. The prices were cheaper than any in Kansas City, MO or KS or even Springfield, MO. The 2 hour drive was truly worth it.

I absolutely loved my kinky twist. They lasted 3mos and still looked great, seriously. As my hair grew it would twist with the hair; never was it frizzy (and I wash my hair, with a spritz bottle however). And taking it down was even better. I thought I would be in trouble for leaving it in so long and the hair had twisted up. Nope I preconditioned my hair, combed it out then washed it; no problems. I would recommend this shop to anyone. The young ladies that worked there were very friendly and talkative. Since moving here to KC I have been to three other places and this shop by far was the best. I gave only 4 stars due to the time. You have one person doing your hair so it takes longer.
