Founded in 1881 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Marquette University has been educating people for more than 120 years. Since the first graduating class of five men were awarded bachelor of arts degrees in the 1880s, Marquette has grown into a modern coed campus of more than 11,000 students who learn and grow through nationally admired undergraduate, graduate and professional programs. It offers undergraduate and graduate degrees. It also offers professional studies, and MBA program, a law school, a dental school and summer studies. Its student-to-faculty ratio is 15:1 and is home to nearly 7,800 undergraduates and more than 11,000 total students, including dental, graduate and law schools. All states and more than 80 countries are represented in its student population. Despite the large student population, class sizes at Marquette are small. The average lower-division class size is 28, while the average upper-division class size is 23.
