Gracie Jiu Jitsu

I started Women's Empowerment and Combatives classes at Gracie Jiu Jitsu Milwaukee in April 2015. It's a safe environment where people of all ages and physical backgrounds can learn self-defense. The instructors are encouraging, patient, and passionate about helping students learn to defend themselves in easy-to-understand lessons.

Gracie Jiu Jitsu relies on technique, not strength or flexibility. A small person can efficiently subdue a larger opponent, whether standing or on the ground. As a woman, I love the confidence that comes from knowing I can legitimately handle myself in any possible situation.

Everyone on the mat, no matter what color belt they wear, is friendly and very respectful. This is not a gym where newcomers are intimidated by the advanced students. The 10 day free trial meant I could be sure it was a good fit for me, with zero pressure to sign up. The classes are great value for the price, it's the smartest investment I've ever made.
