Do NOT go to Miller Place Animal Hospital. I'm new to the area, and had to find someone for an emergency visit for my cat. When I arrived, the vet (Dr. Galvis) was very short with me regarding my cat being unfriendly. The staff had been forewarned that my cat would be unfriendly, and she exhibited no patience with him. She diagnosed what she believed to be the situation and offered antibiotics. She also mentioned that it could be more serious, but given that he did not allow a full check up, they wanted to do a urine sample. They set me up with very expensive fake cat litter to do the test at home. When checking out and paying their computer system was down, and it took 25 minutes to do so. Then when my husband returned with the urine sample the next morning, they charged him a $30 lab fee that they did not mention the day before. Then, due to the weekend, they said we'd receive a call on the Monday with results. They never called for test results for 7 days. When I called, they said "oh, we have it somewhere..." and had to call me back. When they did, I informed the woman (Donna) that it was unacceptable and negligible (especially considering it was bad results!!). I told her that if my doctor was going to be giving me or my children results, we'd be called whether it was positive or negative, and I expect the same standard of healthcare when I choose a vet. Her response is that I have a good doctor and I'm lucky. I told her that was not the correct response to have, and that they're in the wrong and it should have been addressed in a timely and professional manner. I also told her that given the results, a complimentary recheck should have been suggested, just to show that they actually cared about the well being of my cat. Her response was "The best I can do is say sorry, we have some new staff and you didn't get called." When offered an opportunity to show they cared for my pet, or possibly redeem themselves, I was met with a sarcastic tone, and a snarky response that I was lucky to have received test results. This is unacceptable, and as a mom to three pets, I find it heartbreaking to know that had my cats situation been more dire, it could have been life threatening and the vet wouldn't care. Now I've had my one and ONLY visit to the Miller Place Animal Hospital, over $200 down the drain, and in search of a compassionate and professional animal hospital.

First, we are happy to hear "Sailor" is doing well. "Sailor", in fact, was seen as an emergency visit due to his discomfort. His immediate care was of paramount importance, therefore treatment was implemented based on his clinical signs, even though a urine sample wasn't available. When a sample was obtained, it was sent out to an outside laboratory for analysis. The fees for these services were certainly reasonable. It is also incorrect to characterize them as wasteful, since these services lead to "Sailor's" direct well being. On another point, it is hospital policy to have the CLIENTS call for laboratory results. We make every effort to call, however with the case load, not every client can be contacted immediately. It is unfortunate that the contact wasn't within a timely manner (to which Donna freely admitted to AND apologized for) . This had resulted in a negative perception concerning the attitude of our staff. It is not enough to say that our policy is to treat all people and their pets with kindness and respect. Well beyond that, it is something we enjoy doing, appropriately so, given that the people we interact with are often under stress due to the ill health of a beloved furry family member. Other points were raised that require clarification and correction. At no time did the client ask the front staff or Donna for a recheck and, important to note, no immediate follow up was required. It is quite true that the billing took longer than usual. The culprit -technology! There was a problem with the internet provider that could not be resolved quickly. All we could ask for is patience as the staff processed transactions the old fashion way - cash and checks.

I have been taking my pets to Miller Place Animal Hospital for years. The staff, especially Dr. Galvis, are very knowledge and obviously care about the health and well being of all the animals they see. I recently had a pet pass away unexpectedly. The hospital checked to determine what caused his death, provided me with answers within hours, and sent him home with me obviously having been handled with love. After going through such a devastating experience, the hospital was kind and supportive, and even sent a sympathy card the following week. I would recommend Miller Place Animal Hospital to any pet owner.

I have been going to Miller Place Animal Hospital for more than 20 years with my pets. The staff are the most professional and caring people I have ever met. Each person there treats your pet as if it were their own. Dr. Galvis is extremely knowledgable and if it wasn't for her expertise we wouldn't have had our dog as long as we did. I strongly recommend this doctor and facility above all others!!

I have had all very positive experiences with the Miller Place Animal Hospital. I've been bringing my cat for over 10 years and they have always taken excellent care of her. The entire staff takes pride in their patients and want all the best for them and their owners. One more thing, they have the lowest prices on Frontline.

I have been bringing my pets to Miller Place for many years and I can't imagine bringing them anywhere else.

The staff is very friendly and professional. They take plenty of time to explain all my questions and concerns.

In addition, they are very proactive by advising me on things I can do better for my pets and

also sending me friendly reminders when routine maintenance and procedures are due.

I'm always allowed to be there during examinations.

Their fees are not the cheapest but they are very reasonable (which I prefer).

I noticed that another review took issue with them on their spay fees which I find to be average in price.

It also complained about the fact that fasting was required before blood work which I have always found to be standard procedure.

I would not give that review much validity. For my money and peace of mind, you can't do better that Miller Place.

Cold & incompetent staff!! Rip off!!

I only brought my cat here because we had moved & my cat hates the car & this was the closest place. The poor cat got poked & proded & had to fast for blood work ONLY to get a call the next day telling me they didn't get enough serum from her blood sample & I had to come back!! NO way! Lots of hidden fees, bad vibes, wanted $400 to spay!! Don't waste your time or money!!! I didn't even wanna give them one star!!
