Diagnostic

Dental Examination
After we have recieved your completed New Patient Registration Form, your initial visit will consist of a comprehensive examination and any necessary radiographs (X-rays). If you have a current (within the last 3 years) Full Mouth Series (usually about 18 images), we may only need a few specific radiographs. We use Digital Radiography which decreases your exposure to radiation by as much as 90% over the use of traditional films. Your examination will consist of an oral cancer screening and TMJ screening, as well as evaluations of condition of your teeth and restorations (fillings and crowns), the health of your gum and bone (periodontium), your bite (occlusion), and an esthetic evaluation. If teeth are missing, molds be be taken of your mouth so that models can be made. If you have concerns about your mouth, please let us know so that we may address those particular concerns. We also use intraoral imaging so that you can see areas of your mouth of interest. Once all this information is gathered, a second visit is then scheduled for a consult and cleaning with the hygienist. Dr. Schonberg will discuss your treatment plan, alternative plans, consequences, and options.
