General Practitioners

Pediatric Care
Dr. Watterson provides highly personalized and comprehensive primary/pediatric care in a membership medicine model called Rockwell Direct. By adjusting his practice to see a limited number of patients, this allows him to provide a more direct, personalized approach to medical care.
Primary Care
Our nurse practitioners serve as primary care providers, independently write prescriptions, examine and diagnose illnesses, provide treatments, order imaging or specialist referrals, and perform minor surgeries (ie: sutures, cryosurgery, mole biopsies, etc.).
Family Practice
I am a board-certified family nurse practitioner. I enjoy providing compassionate care to individuals of all ages and helping people achieve optimal health through wellness education and disease prevention. I graduated summa cum laude as a student-athlete from Virginia Tech in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition, Foods and Exercise and a minor in Spanish. I decided to pursue my passion for helping others by becoming a nurse practitioner. I graduated from VCU School of Nursing in 2006 with a master’s degree in nursing with an emphasis on family practice. I am married to a fellow Hokie, and together we have two children.

I would also recommend that if you have had a confirmed case of COVID-19 that you delay taking the vaccine for at least 3 months. The SIREN study (released last week) from the UK, suggests that natural immunity is 83-99% for at least 5 months.

Internal Medicine
I consider the practice of medicine a privilege and a calling. I grew up in a medical home. My father was an internist in a small town. He was a man of commitment, compassion and sacrifice. As a result, I pursued a career in biomedical engineering. However, Providence would not suffer this alteration of call and I entered VCU medical school in 1989 and, after graduation, continued my training in Internal Medicine (Adult Medicine) and Pediatrics.

MRI
I have a great experience with each calI had an urgent care situation and saw the doctor within minutes of my arrival. This was followed by blood work and prompt treatment in the office which was followed by a stat and MRI at a nearby hospital also done within minutes of my arrival – arranged by Dr Watterson. I am so thankful for all at Rockwell who cared for me!
Radiology
Insurance Claims Processing. Privia Medical Group accepts assignment of benefits for many third-party carriers. In accordance with the insurance carrier contracts patients will be required to pay co-payments at the time services are rendered. Privia Medical Group will submit charges for services rendered to the insurance carrier. The patient or guarantor will be expected to pay the entire amount that is determined to be patient responsibility. These fees are for physician services only and there may be additional bills from laboratory, radiology, or other diagnostic related providers.
