This is by far the best gym I've ever seen. There is so much equipment you can barely walk through. I've been going for six months and there is plenty of stuff I've never used, can't even identify. While most gyms have tons of floor space either left empty or dominated by treadmills and elliptical trainers, Powerstation is absolutely brimming full of iron. There are about five or six squat racks, Smith machines, leg press, etc. You never really have to wait for anything and no one is ever really in your way.

The atmosphere is excellent. Mike plays rock music, probably WEBN. Most everyone there is really friendly, helpful, and accomodating. I am just about the smallest, wimpiest guy there, which makes me want to achieve more, to catch up. There really are some dead-serious bodybuilders in the place. And, as mentioned, no contract, no hidden fees, and Mike has always been totally accomodating to let people come and work out, to let them check out his gym with no obligation. He let my buddy Collin work out free for about 2 weeks, then when Collin had a baby and quit going, Mike actually refunded his dues. That doesn't happen every day, and I really hate being salesman-ed. Power Station is all substance and no frills, and only $35/month or $320/year. Cheaper than most gyms and way better.

With that being said, a couple of drawbacks: no pool, sauna, hot tub. Just weights and machines. And it's dirty. Particularly fastidious women may not like it, but you go there to sweat anyway, so what's a little rust and dust?

The hours are about average, I'd say. Don't know what time he opens in the morning (that's not my style), but stays open til 10:00 Monday thru Thursday, 8:00 Friday, 5:00 Saturday, closed Sunday. Sometimes you get lucky and get to stay a few extra minutes.

In a nutshell, The PowerStation is not some gym that's there to rip you off and get your cash. This place is this guy's life, and it's flippin' awesome if you want to build strength. Just do me a favor and don't slam the weights. If you can't set it down, you shouldn't have picked it up.
