Overall
I was pleasantly surprised to ...

Authentic homestyle Nicaraguan food. I was pleasantly surprised to find a Nicaraguan restaurant in Metairie after an internet search. I was even more pleasantly surprised when I arrived to find a menu full of only Nicaraguan dishes! Some are childhood favorites and others personal dislikes. This is a small, hole-in-the-wall, takeout place. I was assisted by a pleasant young woman and ordered two items: the pork, and steak with onions. You have a choice of sides and I chose the rice and beans and fried plantain. Both meats were tasty but I liked the steak better. The rice and beans, called “gallopinto”, was delicious and prepared in authentic Nicaraguan style. The fried plantain is served whole but I prefer it fried in slices. The place has a couple of tables and chairs but it lacks AC so you are better off with take out. I liked the food and will definitely be back to try other items on their varied menu. I recommend it.
