We know how important regular eye exams are to your eye health. We have ophthalmologists and optometrists on staff to ensure you’re seen at regular intervals, for simple issues like new glasses and contact lens checks, to critical management of glaucoma, retina issues and other medical situations or injuries. Dr. Jacob Evans graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Neuroscience from Brigham Young University. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, followed by an internship at the University of South Dakota, and a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Cataracts
Refractive lens exchange involves the surgical removal of the clear lens of your eye. In some cases, the lens may have an early cataract which does not significantly interfere with corrected vision.Â The eye surgeon, known as an ophthalmologist, surgically removes the natural lens of the eye and replaces it with an advanced intraocular lens implant (which is usually made of plastic, silicone, or acrylic material), in order to restore vision. For refractive lens surgery, typically a multifocal lens implant is selected to replace the natural lens, to deliver a fuller range of clear vision, near through far, allowing patients to spend most of their day glasses-free. Eye Exam
When I went in to The Eye Associates for an annual eye exam, I can not tell you how surprised I was to find out that I had cataracts in both eyes. I thought I just needed a new eyeglass prescription. They told me that they were the fast growing kind and that I should have surgery right away. I met with Dr. Kent and he scheduled the surgeries quite quickly. My right eye was worse than my left eye, so he scheduled the surgery for my right eye first and then my left eye two weeks later.

Unfortunately, there are some age-related eye diseases that occur more frequently as the years pass. These conditions include macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.

Ultrasound
Your surgeon will enter into the eye through a tiny incisions near the edge of your cornea (the clear covering on the front of your eye). Using ultrasound, he will break up the lens with the cataract and remove it. Then a new lens is inserted in its place.
