Family Practice
Dr. Stephen Gipson began practice in the field of Interventional Pain Medicine in 1984. He pioneered the use of spinal cord stimulation in Memphis. Dr. Gipson studied at St. Georges University School of Medicine and completed his training in Southampton England. After graduation as a Medical Doctor, he began a residency in Family Medicine and later changed to Anesthesiology at the University of Tennessee.

Scoliosis Surgery
Care of all spinal conditions addressed in one location by our associates. Spine surgery, including minimally invasive procedures, disk replacement, kyphoplasty, scoliosis surgery, repair or revision of previous surgical procedures of the neck and back are performed by Dr. Francis Camillo, MD, an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon. Interventional Spine Procedure by Dr. Stephen L. Gipson, MD, in our on-site procedure suite.
Orthopedic Surgery
Dr. Francis Camillo is a board certified orthopedic spine surgeon. He spent 14 years in academic practice, acting as an associate professor of orthopedic surgery at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center. Dr. Camillo joined Spine Specialty Center in 2018.

To expand his scope Dr. Gipson soon afterward he established and directed the Eastwood Hospital Pain Management Center and operated these two entities through the late nineties. He then went into a private practice at the St. Francis medical buildings when he met with Dr. Douglas A. Linville from Campbells Clinic via Washington University spine program. With deliberations on the subject of pain and spine the two doctors decided to establish the Spine Specialty Center in 2000, a practice solely devoted to spine care from C1 to S5. The practice quickly grew and Spine Specialty Center quickly became a place of quality service and integrated spinal care. As the clinic evolved a number of providers were added, some of which moved onward to other positions and physical therapy was added to the plan along with psychology.
