This business is no longer on Wood. Has been on Allen Road (still in Melvindale with same phone number) for at least six years now. Does great work. Saw the review about a 'courtesy' redo for a doctor. Did that mean the Doctor made a mistake? If so, how is it that this is Lukas' business' fault? Lukas Optical does NOT do exams, so yes, you have to bring your Rx. I always tell the exam place that I'll be back for glasses, but need Rx for safety glasses. Prices are very very reasonable. Last time I got a price for glasses, the glasses (Ray Ban) with transition lenses, plastic and thinner lens was $435 cheaper than a Metro Detroit chain wanted. I do have a strong script (-775 in right eye), but almost $300 vs $735 is a heck of a difference., Transition lens was NOT included in the $735 price, and the $735 included my 'insurance discount'. Insurance is not accepted at Stephen Lukas' office, but I am always ahead with his prices and no insurance discount. I have been a customer for about 8 years now, as well as my fiancee'.

Steve's prices for high quality frames and sunglasses are fab-u-lous. Service is excellent, too, and he'll special order items for you. Quick turnaround if you don't need something unusual or out of stock. Steve's office assistant is especially nice.

Beware of giving an outside Rx to this establishment, as they refused a courtesy remake for my doctor. Either have them measure you for glasses, or seek another trused optical shop for glasses.
