Ophthalmology
Dr. Pesce comes from a family of caregivers. Medicine has always been a part of her dreams. She graduated from Dartmouth College as a mathematics major and continued on to medical school in Washington, DC at George Washington University School of Medicine. Her residency in ophthalmology was completed at MedStar Health Georgetown/ Washing Hospital Center in 2000 and was board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 2001. Since then, she has provided care in both academic and private practices. Dr. Pesce taught residents as an assistant clinical professor at both the University of Rochester and Duke University before moving to Philadelphia area in 2007. She saw patients at Bloom Eye Associates in the Roxborough area of Philadelphia for 13 years. Dr. Pesce joined Riddle Eye Associates part time in 2016 and became full time in 2022
Macular Degeneration
We offer total eye care ranging from complete eye examinations to ophthalmic surgery, particularly cataract surgery. Our board certified ophthalmologists, Dr. Anthony Antonello and Dr. Suzanne Pesce, have a wealth of experience helping people with all types of eye diseases and eye problems while our optometrist, Caitlyn Cassey specializes in contact lenses. The Optical Shop at Riddle is conveniently located in our office providing a large selection of eyeglasses. Our eye doctors treat conditions which commonly cause vision loss and blurred vision including diseases of the retina such as diabetic retinopathy, dry and wet macular degeneration, posterior vitreous detachment, retinal tear, retinal detachment, floaters, preretinal membrane, epiretinal membrane, macular pucker, macular hole, retinal artery occlusion, retinal vein occlusion, cystoid macular edema and all types of cataracts and glaucoma as well as conditions causing red eyes, eye pain, tearing, eye swelling or itchy eyes such as dry eye, stye, chalazion, blepharitis, ocular rosacea, iritis, cornea foreign body, cornea abrasion, cornea ulcer, conjunctivitis, pink eye, cornea dystrophy, thyroid eye disease, scleritis, episcleritis, and many other eye disorders such as traumatic eye injuries, ptosis, ectropion, entropion, double vision, optic neuritis, strabismus, crossed eyes, keratoconus, dacryocysitis and other eye infections.
Cataracts
Dr. Pesce is a comprehensive ophthalmologist providing medical and surgical management of diseases of the eye, with a focus on cataract surgery. She prides herself in listening to the patient and believes that medical car is most successful when the doctor and patient work together as a team. She firmly believes that educating her patients about the eye and about their eye disease helps ensure the best outcomes for maintaining vision.
Cataract Surgery
Cataract surgery involves a preoperative visit where your doctor will explain cataract surgery in detail and answer any questions you may have.
Eye Exam
All new patients will undergo a complete dilated eye exam to screen for eye diseases. Please be prepared to stay for one to two hours. If you are sensitive to dilating drops, please make arrangements for someone to drive you home, or to remain in the office for a few hours while the drops wear off. You may wish to bring a pair of sun glasses to wear home to cut down on the glare you may experience.
