Several years ago, I had brought a Rotterman to Quail run that I had adopted from the pound who was 3 yrs old. She brought me much joy and happiness for the next ten yrs. She had gone to Quail run for training and Don was instrumental in her training as she came from neglectful and abused home before being picked up and taken to the pound. I tried to replace what I once had when she was gone, but no two dogs are alike. The seven week puppy I had was a handful and had several behavior problems to deal with. Again I went to Don for help and training. He was superior in assessing dogs as individuals, utilizing appropriate methods for particular breeds and helped train me to understand and achieve the maximum positive training results. My little guy is now over 2yrs. and developing into a nice obedient and happy dog. I found Pat and related staff at Quail run to be compassionate and caring to all the animals on the property.

My dog Gunner and I just completed our 8 week on-lead obedience class. Although my dog was just shy of 6 months old and quite a handful of a 50 lb labrador puppy, I was able to get him under my control, not me under his! This is due to Don and his staff's knowledge, patience and positive reinforcement (for the handlers mostly lol). I would highly recommend Quailrun Kennel for obedience training and boarding, as I have experienced both. Gunner and I are looking forward to the next Off Lead Class! Thanks Don!

Phenomenal!

I just completed my sixth semester at Quail Run and cannot thank Don enough for his endless insight and patience. He is a tremendous teacher who truly knows how to differentiate instruction depending on each human handler and canine pupil. All three of my dogs, who have graduated from both obedience levels, needed to be trained differently as their personalities varied. Don recognized and embraced this, ultimately providing me with the strategies that would work for each of my dogs. As I told Don at the last class, I might be adopting another dog in the near future so that I may once again re-enroll at Quail Run.

Excellent!!! Would never attend any other dog obedience class after having been through this one!! Don Sterling and his team are second to none and their love of dogs is the driving force behind their high standards for dog training success. It was a pleasure for both myself and my dog. And I am confident that my dog will obey me, even in the most difficult of situations. Thank you Don, Patty and Ed, for peace of mind!!!

My husband and I just completed Off Lead Training with our golden doodle, Teddy! Words can't begin to describe how pleased we are with Quail Run. This is the second dog we have trained with here, and honestly without Don's incredible training we most likely would not be on our 2nd golden doodle. Not only did Don and his staff impart a wealth of knowledge, but we were truly entertained each week as Don has a great sense of humor!! If you are looking for effective obedience training for both YOU and your pet this is the place to go!!!! The only disappoint I have is that they don't offer a level 3 class!!

We have trusted Quail Run for more years then I can remember to take of our girls (dogs) when we travel. We have always had the best experience with the care and excellent attentions given to our dogs. This is an excellent run kennel and we recommend many people to go to Quail Run our son, and 2 friends also take their pets there with complete confidance that their guys r given the best of care anywhere. We did use a kennel many years ago and where so dissappointed we almost never went away again but after finding Quail Rin we travel at least 2 times a year. We never worry is the girls r ok as we know they r in safe hands, Campbell's,Pork and Beans!

QRK training/obedience

My pup, Aries, just completed on-lead training at Quail Run Kennels. What a difference! In eight short weeks he has gone from a home-wrecking maniac to a polite companion. All of the principles covered in the weekly sessions are extremely effective. I strongly recommend this program to anyone who would like to make their pet ownership experience more fulfilling and enjoyable. Everyone in my class was amazed at how well their dogs responded to consistent commands and positive reinforcement.

Amazing class and lots of fun. I brought my recently adopted lab for some help as the shelter had said she was returned twice and was difficult to train. After just a few short weeks the dog was listening like an honors student. It is not easy committing to early weekend training but Don and his staff made the hour go by very quickly. I recently completed the advanced class since after the basic course I saw a huge improvement. She then went on to pass the AKC canine good citizen test with ease. I would strongly recommend these courses to anyone that wants to enjoy time with their dog.

I absolutely love taking my pets to training at Quail Run. I just completed the first training session with my newest pet and plan to continue with the off leash class. This is my third dog coming through Quail Run and all have faired well and enjoyed it. I think Don's methods are by far the best I've ever seen and it is proven in the results from each dog I've had come through Quail Run. I always mention this class to all friends looking for obedience training. I'm looking forward to the fall class.

Many thanks to Don Sterling and his staff at Quail Run Kennels. We were facing the prospect of having to give up our dog Ozzy that we rescued 2 1/2 years ago.We absolutely adore him but our standard poodle Jessie does not. They had a fight that landed me in an emergency room with 20 stitches to my hand (courtesy of the poodle). We had worked with two other trainers, but the situation didn't improve.Last Saturday we completed an eight week training course at Quail Run. Don Sterling taught us how to train our dog to be obedient. Don is extremely knowledgeable, understanding and has a great sense of humor, which made the class a lot of fun. We have seen a big change in Ozzy's behavior and are extremely greatful to Don and his wonderful staff!!!

Beginining in the 80's, while managing a 3 doctor veterinary practice, I brought several of my golden retrievers to Quail Run for training, 2 that became certified therapy dogs. I also worked for Don one summer. I have referred hundreds of clients fo Don Sterling over the years and still do, even after opening a pet sitting service and home boarding facility of my own. My 16 year old son just finished his first training experience at Quail Run handing two dogs in back to back classes. He so enjoyed the classes(and Don Sterling's sense of humor) that he wanted to work there. The only place that I would leave my own dogs, which, by the way, are competitive show dogs!

Very Disappointed!!! "Stupid Dog" "I feel sorry for you" were the last words I heard at the conclusion of the class. Every week got praised. Thought I really enjoyed the class. Thought I was getting a lot out of it. Got praised a lot. Last day of class ruined my whole feeling for the place.

I have boarded my dog at Quail Run five times in the past 2 years and have nothing but compliments for the Owner and Staff.

I have recommended Quail Run to both family and friends.

I have also attended the the Basic Obedience course they offer and was very satisfied with the results. They train you how to properly handle your dog and taking a walk through town is no longer a stressful event.

Boarding a dog is similar to sending a child to day care. There are limits as to how much any supervisor can do to control the behavior of a 3 year old child or a dog. This dog was seriously overweight and inactive which resulted in the dog laying on its legs and putting pressure on the joints for extended periods of time while boarding. The presure of the excessive weight on the joints resulted in a superficial sore on the pressure point of the joint. As far as the beds are concerned, we tend not to accept large beds that are difficult to clean for sanitary reasons and we supply our own beds for all dogs but we can not force any dog to lie on them if they prefer to remain outside in the cement area of their kennel. The dog did not require any medical attention. The owner was quite irate when he called on the 13th but appeared to be satasfied with my explanation for the cause for the sores when he brought the dog back to the kennel the following day. I am disappointed that he did not post a follow up response to that visit.

The owner is NASTY and I don't think he likes dogs!

Always yelling at barking dogs to shut up.

Place is clean but I want a place that treats my dog the way I would.

It is obvious that this pet owner does not care for 50-100 dogs in her/his home. We run a boaring kennel and just like Arnold Schwartzenager in Kidergarten Cop, we attempt to maintain some degree of sanity in the kennel environment just as he did in his kindergarden class. Allowing dogs to bark uncontollably would be counter-productive to the welfare of the staff, the neighbors as well as the dogs. If yelling "quiet" to a barking dog appears to make me "nasty" it is the impression of this individual. A failure to supervise a child or a dog will often result in making either or both quite unbearable to anyone around them. Yelling at a dog will quite often deter barking and hyper-excitement which can lead to all sorts of problems such as over-heating and exhaustion and it is preferable to control behavior rather than have to deal with the concequences of not controling it. If yelling "quiet" to a dog offends this client perhaps he/she would be happier boarding her pet at a kennel where the dogs are allowed to bark all day and run the risk of suffering the concequences of such hyper-activity. We have been in business since 1973 and have never had a dog suffer from heat exhaustion simply because we control the environment and activity of hyer-active boarders.
