Contact us! While your child’s development is being screened at every well visit, we understand concerns may arise between visits. JDC staff can help get you moving in the right direction. This may mean a visit with your child’s primary care provider to discuss your questions/concerns or a referral to a specialist for further evaluation.
Ear Infections
Colds, upper respiratory infections, and URIs are common terms we use to describe viral illnesses that cause nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, fever, and cough. The fever usually lasts for 2-3 days, and the cough with congestion and runny nose may last for 5-10 days. The typical preschool-age child may experience 6-10 colds per year. Most colds resolve on their own with rest and fluids, but some may lead to ear infection, sinus infection, asthma attack, or other complications. If you are concerned about the possibility of one of these complications, please have your child seen in our office for an evaluation.
Emergency Care
Urgent Care Visits JDC will see your child after-hours for urgent concerns on weekday evenings, Saturdays (beginning at 8:00 am) and Sundays (beginning at 10 am) by appointment. Please call us at 717-791-2680 to schedule a same-day appointment. There will be an additional after-hours fee charged for this type of visit.

These include forms required by your child’s school for the kindergarten, 6th grade, and 11th grade years, and for college entrance, to prove that your child has had a physical (well visit). If your child has had a physical with us within the last year, usually all that is required is for us to provide you with the “Private Physician’s Report” from that visit. This report contains all of the information that the school requires, including your child’s current immunization record. If you did not request this report at your child’s most recent well visit, please call our office and we will send this to you via your patient portal account or by mail. For college forms that require a doctor's signature (i.e. clearance to play a college sport), a form visit is required.

We firmly believe that thimerosal, a preservative that has been in vaccines for decades and remains in some vaccines, does not cause autism or other developmental disabilities.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
ADD/ADHD Management We provide consultations and medication management for ADD/ADHD. If you think your child may have ADD/ADHD, or your child's teacher has recommended that he be evaluated, please call our office. You will be sent a packet of information and questionnaires to be completed by parents and teachers. Once these are completed and returned to our office, the physician will score them and we will call you to set up an initial ADD evaluation appointment. At this appointment, your physician will discuss whether or not medication is recommended, and if so, what is involved with monitoring your child's progress. Children with an ADD/ADHD diagnosis will need to see the same physician for all ADD/ADHD visits AND well visits. In general, patients taking ADD medication will need to be seen at least every 6 months for a medication check (one of these checks can be done at the same time as the well visit).
