I recently purchased a town home from this company and i could not be happier with the process. I believe that they have been fair in explaining the building process and the time frame to expect for completion. although there were a couple of minor hiccups along the way, they were helpful and fixed the issues in a timely manor.

I have recommended this builder to several of my family members and I would definitely buy another house from them.

Had a great experience with my home. There were some minor items on my closing list that were quickly repaired.

We agree do not use this builder! We signed a contract in June and were told estimated move in date would be early November. After several excuses why they hadn't started clearing the land they finally did so early November. They messed up clearing the lot so bad we were told our model would not fit On it My heart was broken after choosing all of our upgrades and loving the floor plan. We had a great realitor who had difficulty getting kerley to return phone calls or answer e-mails without constant persistence. We have waisted six months with them and are out once again looking for our new home. In the long run we're glad we are free from this company!

Frustrated and disappointed

My husband and I are currently purchasing a home from Kerley and up until a few weeks ago, things seemed to be going ok. However, lately it just feels like issue after issue. We didn't get the right granite that we picked out. It looks nothing like the sample and I understand when you are working with natural stone you will have a variation, however, this is completely different. I met another neighbor and she is having the same issue with the granite (same color). The builder said they won't fix it because it's the right granite. They don't let you approve the slab before they put it in the house and whoever picked the slab couldn't have picked a more different variation, it's almost like they didn't even try to get as close to the sample as possible. Second issue was that they didn't finish our hardwood floors in the foyer/hallway and I have email confirmation that it was their error and they would fix it. Well I went by the house yesterday and they have laid carpet down where there should've been hardwoods. I have sent an email asking that they now rip out the carpet and do the hardwood floors ASAP. So will see what my response is. If I have to take this up the ladder I will because I feel like the communication amongst their workers is terrible. This could've easily been avoided if someone would have communicated and did their job properly. Now with closing looming in a few weeks, it makes me nervous that the issues won't be resolved.

DO NOT USE THIS BUILDER!!! DO NOT!!! They are not honest! Once you purchase a home and they receive earnest money there customer service goes out the door! I have had issue after issue with them and they continue to blow me off. The only reason I have not cancelled is because I will be out my earnest money unless I find an attorney and pay more money. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT USE THEM!!

Response to Clare B.

We have more than diligent in relieving this issue for you. We apologize for the inconvenience but we have to be able to park by the homes we are constructing. I think parking in front of our homes on the side of the street our homes reside is being fair. This is the end of the construction in this section and once it is complete this matter will go away. I believe your statements of professionalism are untrue and unwarranted. We have responded to you each time and no items have been left unanswered. Your Landlord , the HOA and Local police fully understand this issue and are in agreement to our remedy.

Do not buy a home from Kerley Family Homes!!! They use cheap products and will not make good on your warranty when something needs to be fixed. All the neighbors I know are just as unhappy as I am. I totally agree with the other reviews posted about this builder that I fell in love with the floor plans and the price, but the hassle is not worth it.

The listing agent we dealt with was completely incompetent. She misled us about upgrades/selections. She lied about the walk-through process and inspection scheduling. She ignored my request to get back to me on an item, and instead wrote it into the contract (I wanted to check about having a dormer removed and receiving a credit. Instead she wrote it into the contract and didn't give us a credit). We saw her once on the day we signed the contract and the day that we selected colors, then never again. She refused to respond to repeated contact attempts, told us to stop contacting her when we found errors with the home and repeatedly sent us the wrong contract documents when trying to prove her point. All-in-all, just a horrible experience. We were promised that they would repair a piece of the yard that they acknowledged was their problem (even got it in the contract) only to have them try to push the blame on the cable company. The house itself is nice, but not worth the hassle. They do things cheaply and haphazardly, in my opinion.

Hello, my name is Lisa Day and I want to inform you of the very bad experience I had with Kerley Family Homes.

I signed a contract with Kerley Family Homes to purchase a home for approximately $460,000 that contained several upgrades. When I signed the initial contract I gave Kerly earnest money in the amount of $2500. After asking for pricing on some of the upgrades, I gave Kerley an additional $9,185 advance on the upgrades.

I met with the real estate agent for Kerley to go over the standard features of the home and the upgrades I wanted, however I was not told until after I had signed a contract that the purchaser had no choices on interior paint colors, carpet or lighting. I also was very limited in the choices for exterior colors and finishes as well. I was told I could make these changes myself after closing so I would pay for these items twice. I was also completely surprised at the prices being quoted for several of the upgrades I was asking for.

I wish to explain that I am a sales representative for a supplier of materials to the residential market and have been for over 25 years. My fiancé is also a homebuilder for over 38 years and builds homes in the $380,000 to $2.3 million price point. I tell you this because I because I don’t want you to think we don’t believe a builder should make a profit, just the opposite, we just want a builder to make a fair profit and not gouge his purchasers and give the purchaser a quality product for the price.

As we got into the contract process, it became apparent that Kerley Family Homes was not the builder for me. I had asked to meet Mr. Kerley more than once but he never would meet with me. I was not comfortable with their contract process, their purchaser selection process, nor the quality of their product. I decided to terminate my contract and asked them to refund my advance for the upgrades. I did not ask for my earnest money back. I did this prior to any work being done on the home. They had not even begun to clear the lot, ZERO had been done!

I called Joe Kerley several times to discuss this with him but he would not take my call nor return any of my phone calls. He will only allow his agent to deal with the purchaser. The only correspondence I finally got was a copy of the letter he sent to my real estate agent stating he was keeping all the money since his contract states that if the purchaser does not meet any or all of his obligations or fails to close on time he keeps their earnest money. I believe his business practices are very deceptive and that his quality and purchaser options are substandard for the price point he is trying to sell his homes for.

This is only a brief outline of the bad experience I had with Joe Kerley and Kerley Family Homes. I would be happy to share more with you if you are thinking of purchasing one of their homes (678) 410-2812

Respectfully,

Lisa Day
