Customer Service is Key

Today, I had my third visit to Plato's Closet. Twice, including today, I have sold to them, and once I have shopped. Every time I have gone, I have not been greeted when I walked in. Today, I walked in and saw three Plato's staff members talking at the front desk. My friend and I were carrying my two large bins of items, and did not get greeted until we approached the closest staff member, asking for assistance. The girl then told us to put the bins down "wherever". I filled out my paperwork and told the girl I would stay in the store. I asked her how long it would take, and she replied "Ummm, probably 25 minutes. No, not even that. I don't know." Basically, I had no idea how long I would be there. I asked her how I would know when it was done, aka, would someone come find me when it was finished? She replied "Sure, sure." Content, my friend and I browsed through the store while they looked through my things. I was a little disheartened by the first encounter because the girl had treated me like I was just unwanted work for her and a burden to the store. This made my shopping experience uneasy. By the time they finished with my stuff, my friend and I were in the back of the store. I was told that someone would come get me when the quote was ready, but instead, my name was yelled from across by a staff member at the front desk. I was appalled. It was totally unnecessary for her to scream out my name when I was told that I would be found. When I approached the counter, the woman asked, "Are you Rachel?" I said, "Yes ma'am". She then said, "Well, we passed on the majority of your items, but we purchased these three items and we can give you 6.60." I was absolutely shocked. The delivery of the quote was everything it should not have been, and in the end, I was very frustrated with her tone and the way she handled the situation. Not wanting to snap at her, I quietly accepted the offer and got my things, with no assistance offered to my friend and I as we struggled out of the store. Overall, I was extremely disappointed with my latest experience at Plato's Closet. Unfortunately, both of my earlier experiences with Plato's had the same negative impact on me. I think the idea of the store is a fantastic idea, and the concept is perfect for Mandeville. However, I feel like the entire staff should boost their customer service to above and beyond what is expected of them. A bad experience can shy away customers, and unfortunately, I must say that I will be one of them. I have given Plato's three chances to give me a better experience, and I have not received it. I hope to hear in the future that Plato's Closet treats their customers much better than they currently do.

As a manager here at Plato's Closet, I would like to thank you for all the reviews. I have read over the good reviews and the bad reviews with our staff and I would like to personally apologize for any bad experiences you may have had at our store. We strive to have good customer service and offer you only the best selection of clothing and accessories at amazing low prices. As for the customer that had a bad experience with the dressing room and the employee that was rude to you, we have resolved that problem and she is no longer a employee here at Plato's Closet. I do urge you to come try our store again and I do hope in the future your shopping experience here will be a better experience for you.

Absolutely Great! I sold quite a few clothes that i never used and got a reasonable offer every time. Also every time I sell my clothes here I always find something I love. Great store! You can't even tell that the clothes are used.

Everyone was very helpful. I got some really nice name brand clothes for good prices. I also bought a Dooney & Bourke handbag for $50.00 (it was brand new). It was a great experience and I plan on buying and selling my clothes and accessories here in the future.

Would it kill you to SMILE?!

When I walked into the store, I was not greeted. Everybody working there was aware that I had walked in but nobody even bothered to say anything or at least smile. That instantly put me off. I went to go try on an item and I was approached by an employee who didn't seem very happy. Even after I politely thanked her for opening a door she didn't even say anything. A man who worked there walked past me while I was shopping and just glared at me and said nothing.the whole experience was pretty bad, I didn't feel welcome and this made me feel like I had to rush out. If the clothes were better I wouldn't mind that much, but I can find cuter clothes and nicer/happier people elsewhere.

This store is where I get all ...

This store is where I get all my clothes! I can get expensive name brands for more than half the price. I also sell my clothes that I am tired of wearing. The best thing is when I sell clothes that day I can trade them in for other clothes tax free! This store never ceases to amaze me! I love it!

I moved to the north shore a couple of years ago from Baton Rouge and was really excited to see that there was a Plato's Closet opening here. The layout of the store is nice, there is plenty of room to move around and shop and everything is very well-organized. They have great inventory for great prices, but most of their clothing seems to be very much aimed to teens and tweens - other locations I have visited had more adult clothes. If you have kids, though...definitely go here before hitting the mall. On the downside, the customer service was horrible. I had armfuls of clothes and shoes and no one came to help me or offered to start me a fitting room. I finally brought the clothes to the fitting area and asked if I could start a room - I was told by the girl that they could not hold items and that I had to either try them on right now or they would be returned to the shelves. I explained to her that I was still looking but couldn't hold any more items in my arms and her response was the same. Whatever, I tried on the clothes I had already selected before finishing my browsing. I was not allowed to hold my "keepers" at the counter, though - I had to carry them around with me which was annoying because I had to keep them separate from items I had not already tried on. The second time at the fitting area there was no one at the rooms so I let myself in one. Several minutes later a woman knocked at the door and told me I needed to come out immediately so they could check my clothing. I showed the lady what I had and she was very snooty and said "You can't go in a room without having your items counted" to which I replied "There was no one available to count my items and the rooms were unlocked." She was very rude and said "Well for future reference, THOSE are the rules. Please follow them." If I wasn't in love with a pair of nice jeans for $10 I would have walked out...but I took them to the counter anyway. I couldn't use my punch card from the Baton Rouge store even though there was nothing that indicated location on the card AND I have used those cards at different locations throughout Louisiana. The checkout counter girl was very sullen and seemed annoyed. She did not smile or thank me for my business. I might be willing to give this store another chance because the deals are so great, but if I have another bad service experience I will definitely not be back!
