Â Players with a history of ankle injury were almost five times more likely to sustain an ankle injury according to British Journal of Sports Medicine, 2001.

Overuse injuries occur when repetitive forces are placed on the tissue causing inflammation and pain. Â Injuries that fall under this classification include plantar fasciitis and tendonitis. Â Web MD describes plantar fasciitis as the most common cause of heel pain. The plantar fascia is the flat band of tissue (ligament) that supports the arch of your foot. If you strain your plantar fascia, through excessive repetitive forces then your heel or the bottom of your foot hurts when you stand or walk.
