Established in 1973, Chicot Primary School is an educational institution that serves more than 700 students in pre-kindergarten through grade two. It offers classes in reading, writing, computer technology and reading recovery. The school provides the English as a Second Language program. It maintains a parent-teacher association that holds regular meetings and conferences, as well as promotes children and youth welfare at home and school. The school operates a media center that stocks over 7,000 books, as well as offers a collection of current media, reference resources and periodicals. It additionally provides health care and family assistance programs for its students. The school partners with J A Riggs Tractor Company and Metropolitan National Bank. Chicot Primary School is a part of the Little Rock School District, which serves nearly 26,000 students through approximately 30 elementary, middle and high schools.
