- Royalton Kennels offers it's clients a wide range of features. Our overall best feature is that of our staff. We employ only individuals who love pets - and thus love our guests. As a result of this many find that their pet is very excited to come stay with us! Those dropping off their pets often notice, and share with us, how much they appreciate the love and attention shown by our staff. Our groomer is professionally trained, has taken advanced grooming courses and is experienced with all breeds. Royalton Kennels offer a full line of grooming for all dog breeds - and cats too! Our state-of-the-art bathing system offers a hydro-massage for your pet while cleaning their coat and skin. All baths include nail trims, ear cleaning and expressing the anal glands. Long haired pets are styled and blown dry. No day at the spa is complete without cologne, a bandanna or bows and lots of TLC. We believe that a clean pet is a healthy and happy pet.

- Hal and Ellen Kapen are from the New York City area. They were both active in the medical field in New York, NY and Los Angeles, CA. In 1988, they retired to Louisville, KY area to open Royalton Kennels, a five acre dog paradise in Fern Creek. The Kapens have had family pets since 1970 and acquired their first “show dog” in 1982. They have been showing their Rhodesian Ridgebacks since 1983 in AKC conformation and obedience events. One of their dogs was the #1 Ridgeback in conformation events in the United States in 1990. They are active members of the Louisville Kennel Club, the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States, and the American Boarding Kennel Association.

We have taken our dogs to Royalton for over a decade and have always been impressed with how our dogs are treated. We usually just board our dogs and have them go on the nature walks, but on several occasions have asked for additional grooming. The staff all seem happy and enthusiastic and the owners are very accommodating regarding meals and dispensing of medicine. The owners are people and pet lovers who run what seems like a bed and breakfast for animals. We love this place and highly recommend it to all pet owners.

Royalton Kennels took excellent care of my new addition to my family. Our baby Snuggles, she is a short haired cat and she can be a little scary. But with the gentle touch and loving hands, they showed Snuggles, she just melted in their hands. Thank you so much Royalton Kennels!!!
I wish there were many more places like this in Louisville, they are respectable kind and gentle.
I am very happy that I found Royalton Kennels. We will be going away on vacation and we are really considering boarding Snoopy with them for a few days. We just know that he will be OK!
Came here last weekend and I just picked up my dogs and they were very clean, happy and feed. That gives them an A+! They took real good care of my pets and for that I will recommend them to family and friends.
Mrs. Ellen is such a sweetheart and she has always been great to Biscuit & I. When I bring Biscuit he doesn't get sad or scared because he loves Mrs. Ellen she treats him like a baby and spoils him. Their prices are fair and I don't mind paying a lot because I know my dog is going to get taken care of and I only trust them when I'm on business trips.
Royalton Kennels is a definite winner. We found out about the kennel from a local veterinarian who highly recommended the comfortable environment and the tender, loving care given to all the pets. We then learned that many breeders and people who were involved with show dogs knew of them and also highly recommended Royalton.
