Overall

I want to start off by saying that this place was recommended to me by a friend as being family owned and operated and that they will do a great job for a reasonable price. We brought in a 2003 Honda Odyssey that is my daughter's van, she was pregnant with twins at the time and we needed to make sure this vehicle was fixed and would be reliable. The van was leaking oil and I was told it was the rear main seal. They had the vehicle for 3 weeks and after repeated calls to them asking for an update and being told someone would call me when it was done and that never happening, I called one last time and was told that they recieved a defective part and it was still leaking oil but once they get the replacement part it would be fixed. So they had it a about 4 more days (so what it took 3 weeks to do the first time only took 4 days the second time). We get the van home and after a couple weeks we realize that it is still leaking oil. But before being able to to get the van back out to them (this place is 40 miles from where I live and I only took it here by word of mouth) the van breaks down on my daughter leaving her stranded in a parking lot, it appears as though the starter has gone out. I called and told them about the oil leak and now the starter, so instead of taking it to two different places I had the van towed back here to get looked out. They tell me that the oil leak is from the head gasket this time and it's going to cost x amount. And that the starter is out as well. They quoted me the price for that and I went ahead with the starter replacement only. A couple weeks after getting the van back, the van breaks down and is doing the same thing as before, leaving my very pregnant daughter stranded again! This time I refuse to pay for another tow so the owner had it towed at his expense. It was indeed a bad starter, I was told "the part was defective" for the second time. And according to the owner they use a company to get their parts that is very reputable and they've never had issues in the past. So this time I ask, "have you checked everything else to make sure there is nothing else causing the starter to go out?" I was told yes and there is nothing else causing the issue. It's been about 2 months now since the last repair and today my daughter comes out of a dr's appt with the twins and the van won't start AGAIN! Seems as if the starter is out for a third time. She just tried to call Murphys and it just goes straight to voicemail so now she is stranded again with two babies. Getting in contact with this place has been a nightmare, it generally goes to (cellphone) voicemail and there have even been times that the vm was full and you couldn't leave a message.



I would not recommend Murphy's Customs to anyone wanting to get repair work done!
