Dental Examination
After being welcomed by our friendly front desk team, you and your child will be given a brief tour of the dental office so you can meet everyone and your child can start becoming familiar with their new surroundings. You’ll then be escorted to the back where you’ll meet their dentist. They’ll chat with you for a few minutes, asking about their medical and dental history, and then they’ll perform an oral exam. X-rays
Yes, without a doubt. Pain is only one symptom that can occur when dealing with a dental emergency. Even if the pain subsides and is no longer an issue, it doesn’t mean there couldn’t be something else problematic underneath the gum line. By bringing your child in to see us, we can take dental X-Rays and see what is happening in the tooth root and lower gum layer. While we may not find anything at all, it is best to let us take a look to ensure there is no infection developing or trauma to an area that cannot be seen with the naked eye.

Teeth Cleaning
Sitting either in the dental chair or your lap (whichever one is best), we’ll give your child a light-touch exam that looks at their teeth, gums, and how their bite fits together. We’ll be able to catch any issues they might have early and answer your questions on how to take care of their teeth at home. Plus, our wonderful hygienists can give them a gentle cleaning to remove any harmful plaque, especially from those areas that are hard to reach with their brush and floss.
Fluoride Treatment
We recommend that everyone, teenager or not, should use a fluoridated toothpaste because fluoride is proven to help prevent cavities long-term. We can also give your teen a topical fluoride treatment at the conclusion of their routine checkups. They’ll just need to rinse their mouth with a highly-concentrated solution for about a minute, and that’s it! The fluoride will quickly get to work strengthening the enamel and repairing any minor damage before it turns into troublesome decay.
Dental Sealants
A dental sealant is a type of plastic material that coats teeth to protect them from bacteria and plaque growth, which young children are usually more susceptible to. Because the inside of the mouth can be so volatile with the constant influx of food, beverages and digestive fluids, it helps to have a safeguard in place to make it harder for leftover particles to cling to teeth, which can eventually lead to cavity development.
Space Maintainers
Although it’s common for baby teeth to fall out, this shouldn’t happy too early or it can cause additional problems for your little one’s oral health. Instead, if your child knocks out a baby tooth, make sure you get in to see us as soon as possible. This will allow our team to take the appropriate action to prevent your child’s nearby teeth from shifting as well as look to ensure their jawbone and nearby teeth were not affected. Should it be necessary, depending on how far along your child is before receiving a permanent tooth, we will insert a space maintainer to keep the area open and ready for their permanent tooth to come through.

Fillings
It’s very rare for children to go throughout their teens 100% cavity-free despite our best efforts, but if one should pop up for your child, we can easily fix it in just one appointment. Unlike old gray amalgam fillings, tooth-colored fillings can be shaded to match any patient’s enamel to create a seamless result that blends into the smile. Plus, our fillings are metal-free as well, meaning they don’t make a tooth more sensitive to hot and cold temperatures.
Resin Composite
Previously, metal was a common material used to restore missing tooth structure. While certainly effective, the dark spots left behind left much to be desired. Fortunately, that’s where tooth-colored fillings come in! The composite resin is similar to a putty and comes in a wide range of lifelike shades. As a result, it can easily bond to your enamel, will blend in beautifully with your child’s smile, and will ensure their bite is no longer compromised.
Crowns
Time is extremely important in this situation as we can only replant a tooth about an hour or so after the initial accident. Call us immediately, recover the tooth, pick it up ONLY by the crown, and gently rinse it off with some water. Try to place it back into the socket, and have your child hold it there by closing their mouth. If this isn’t working, the tooth can also be stored either in the cheek pouch or a container of milk. Only put it in the cheek if you can trust your child to not swallow it!
