Operational since 1924, the Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs provides care services for children with physical disabilities. The commission offers services through a variety of specialty clinics that treat asthma, cerebral palsy, and neurological, orthopedic and heart disorders. Its clinics also perform neurosurgery and reconstructive surgery procedures. The Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs provides physical, occupational and speech therapy services. It offers care and financial assistance for children and adults with hemophilia. In addition, the commission manages newborn hearing screening and foster care support programs. The Commission for Children with Special Health Care Needs operates more than 10 offices and works with families and hospitals to provide various medical, financial and employment resources. It is governed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
