Animal Emergency Center is the reason my cat passed away! They did not perform a thorough exam and therefore misdiagnosed my furbaby with asthma when he, in fact, had Dilated Cardiomyopathy.
Jaxson was not yet three years old. We had always been a very healthy cat. Less than twelve hours before he passed away (out of nowhere) he started having serious issues breathing, we was drooling, lethargic, wouldn’t eat or drink, and was hiding (he loved being with people). We rushed him to Animal Emergency Center (around 11 pm) because we prefer to work more with Eastern medicine and medical care. Dr. Tran did not do a thorough exam on Jaxson. He did not do blood work to rule out other causes. He did not listen to Jaxson’s heart, or he would have heard the fluid blinding up around it. He kept trying to listen to his lungs but as our regular vet said, “There is NO WAY he could hear his lungs with all of that fluid in there!!!” Why didn’t he do an x-ray, just to be 100% sure about what was going on???!!
He did not check his lymph nodes or abdomen!! That is 101 of vet care! Dr. Tran sent us home with two bottles of essential oils to help with his “asthma attack”. Which if he was having still, why on earth would he send us home with him still having an attack?! Well, he wasn’t having an asthma attack, he was drowning in his fluids. Minute by minute more and more fluid built up around his lungs and his heart. I kept using the oils, putting my trust in Dr. Tran and his vet tech. Obviously, nothing was working.

The next morning we took Jaxson to our vet when they reopened (at 7 am). We had to drop him off because they wanted to give him as much oxygen as possible and he needed round the clock medical care. They ran a bunch of test/blood work and did an x-ray. At first, our vet thought that Jaxson either had heart disease or a mass. He had a clot in his leg because his heart wasn’t working correctly. He also had a massive amount of fluids in his lungs. He's was given oxygen & injections to help. This was when our vet said that there is no way to tell if he had asthma because the fluids in his lungs and around his heart were too vast to see/hear anything else.
After 4 hours our vet said there wasn’t more she could do, it was now a “waiting game”. We had to monitor him 24/7 until he was out of the woods.
Well, he never made it out of the woods. He died in the car on the way home. We were devastated and in complete shock! In less than 12 hours our sweet baby went from being healthy to dead! This could have likely been prevented if Dr. Tran has done his job and properly cared for my pet. DO NOT GO TO ANIMAL EMERGENCY CENTER!! Their lack of care and attention killed my Jaxson.

I've been using Dr. Tran and The Animal Emergency Center for over 10 years. Not only do I use them for emergencies but also for routine pet care. If your pets are confined to the hospital, you may go visit at any time they are open! Dr. Tran is an excellent surgeon and offers holistic treatment for your pet as well as conventional. The Vet Tech, Mari, is very caring and loving with your fur baby.

Overall
Afforable, basic but reliable service

We had an emergency in the middle of the night with one of our two dogs and brought her in bc it was the closest option to our home. We felt like while the service was basic and straight forward as well as was high quality and effective. The vet did not try to push us to run extra tests and took the most financially conservative route (while maintaining medical efficacy). Not exactly a posh location or clinic but good people, good service and we left an emergency vet visit without a huge bill and a healthier dog. I would certainly recommend them based on that experience.
