I went to A-1 because I had heard the name around town a lot, and since it was the first time I was getting my vacuum cleaner serviced in the 9 years I've owned it, I thought that was a good sign. I was wrong.
I walked in the store, and the gentleman asked me if I liked my Dyson. I replied that it's been a great vacuum. He replied that was surprising because most people do not like them (which is contrary to everything I've ever heard or read), and proceeded to tell me how his store brand is the number one rated vacuum. I explained that I was only here to have my Dyson serviced, and he did not pressure me further on the issue.
I shared with him that the vacuum needed a new hose on the bottom and the wand due to a hole in them. He explained that the vacuum would also likely need a new belt because the ones on Dysons wear out in 3-5 years. I went along with him on that one. He explained that it would take a couple of days to fix it because he would need to order parts.
Two weeks later (rather than a couple of days), I called to check on the status of my vacuum. I have 5 pets at home, and was getting desperate for it. He stated that he told me it would take a while to get the parts in, and that the part had just arrived yesterday and he would have it done the day I called. I did not receive a phone call that day, so I called the following day. He explained that he had gotten busy, but that he would have my vacuum ready on this date, which he did.
The vacuum runs much more efficiently than it did prior to having it serviced; however, they did not fix the wand hose. They simply jammed it up in the wand, so that I could not change accessories. The wand still has a hole in it.
I gave A-1 2 stars because:
1. When coming in for service on a vacuum that works well for me, I did not appreciate feeling pressured to buy a different brand vacuum.
2. Service took 2 weeks rather than a few days. If he had told me two weeks, or had called to let me know the parts had been delayed, I would have been fine with that.
3. He did not fix the wand hose.
