I was initially impressed with the headphone jack repair, LG battery replacement with new charger cable.
Next day the Headphone jack was not working- then a few days later the charger cable wires broke off, as the plastic casing split apart!
Here's the good part. I went back about 5 days later, when I had extra time-as I live in the area.
Suddenly, they don't remember me, and want to charge me for a new cable! And the Persian dude at the counter was really rude. Jerry was the boss, and I was forced to dish out more money.
Jerry previously on the first visit, had gone out to his car, to get tools to fix the headphone input.
I asked him to get his tools and do the repair abit better.
Jerry: (Gangster talk) "I don't bring my tools to work, anymore. "
Yeah, right.
Before that was spoken, the Persian dude (he told me he was Persian on the first "nice" visit-when they took my money) actually hissed at me, and in a remarkably rude tone growled, "If this one breaks-don't come BACK again."
Sheesh!
I tried being polite and reason with these guys, but they were so twisted and hostile, it was just futile. I also suspect they were racist against Anglos in this predominantly Hispanic area of DTLA.
Another cute "con" I later realized the Persian Dude pulled off on the first visit. My DROID wasn't charging. He sold me a new plug-in cable, from one in his messy counter drawer, all tangled up.
I paid him for that and the new cell battery. We plug the phone in and it still doesn't charge on the new cable! He pulls out his car keys that has a small tool. Its just a metal pointer and he scrapes out all the hidden pocket lint, in the phone charger receptacle. There's LOTS. (From carrying cellphone in my cotton Levis jeans pockets)
Suddenly, the phone starts to charge, with a clean contact.
Notice how he did this "kind gesture" AFTER he sold me the new charger cable.
As I left, I pulled out my old cable from their trash can-got home & plugged it in, and it charged just fine. These guys are slick operatives with 0 integrity. They do provide a basic service, and their clientele are mostly underprivileged on Broadway Avenue. Creepy people were coming in trying to sell used (stolen) phones or get service on them.
The iPhone 6 will be coming out in a few weeks-so I can retire my LG DROID phone.
That way-I deal with Apple and I never have to interact with- these goof-balls again.
